I suggest you get a current school teacher to teach your child. I had the same problem for my DS. He is in P4 this year and was having the same tutor since P2. However, when I quit my job and monitored her teaching I found that there wasn’t any improvement. I managed to get a current school teacher and now his grades improved from F to Band 2.

          Hi Janet,

Yes, I agree with you dey simply bochap and don't understand y we do tis & dat. Onli noe how to complain tis and dat.
No, the tutor homeworks are sooooooo little.
I'm lost lost lost 😢 ...sad sad sad.... 😞
I reali 🙏 that he noe the hardwork that I put in for him soon and willingly to study hard.
          Hi snowwhitejt,

Based on what you have posted, I think motivation is missing. I think your son must feel good about his study successes then he will want to continue to work hard. How about giving him small achievable goals like improving math marks by 5 marks for each test then praise him like crazy when he achieves it? My friend shared this method with me.

            Hi Snowwhitejt,

If you are looking student care at CCK..i recommend Pro Teach at Blk 555..is it near to your place? Which school is yr son in?

My son maths also since pri 1 to 2 ...always get passing grade and marks hardly moved...I understand yr agony and now understand why parents used to say stress stress from schooling kids..

I guess he is pri 4 still got time to help him out...before PSLE!

            Hi,

My son results are very very bad. B3 for English & Chinese. B4 for Math & Science.
Should I put him in student care? or get a 1 to 1 tutor for him again?
Next year he will be in the morning session(P4) & I strongly believed that he will be watching or sleeping the whole day at home.
            Wat should I do?
Any good student care to recommend near CCK north 6?
            Any good tutor to recommend?

I am feeling relieved that I am not the only stressed up parent around!

If anyone knows of a good tuition teacher, please pm me.

                  Hi,

It seems I’m not the only parent stress out here.
My son will be in P5 next yr and his result has been sliding every yr. I’m despately looking for a good tutor before it is too late.
Any recommendation for a good tutor in the north?

                    Hi,

I can understand how u are feeling. I guess you'll need to sit down n discuss with ur hubby what kind of childhood do u want for your child and what are your expectations for him?
A straight As child or a happy child?

Personally, B3 n B4 aren't very poor. Think abt it, were u a straight As kid when u were young? I just came upon a news article reporting that alot of young kids nowadays are having mental problems like depression and this trend is on the rise.
I think we as parents need to reflect are we giving our kids too much pressure. My hub and my stand is that we want our child to have a happy childhood. Not that they can fail but they must put in their best effort. We don't require them to get straight As but we're fine with Bs n above.
I don't know whether this piece of advice is of any help to you but I hope that you and your kid will be happier.

My son's grades dipped when he went to P3 !!!
It was very scary to see his results in the 60s range. That was for CA1 and SA1. He likes Science, so that subject score was around 70+. He has Chinese tuition since K2 but switched him to one-to-one in P1.
Next year P5, I really dare not i 😢 magine what his results will be like.
So this holidays, we have an agreement to put in 2 hours everyday or his brain will be washed out in Jan.

I guess parent main worry is with present result, how the child will handle primary leaving examinations. Esp. when he moves to higher primary level and syllabus gets tougher. Sad to say that school leaving exam PSLE will be the instrument tool to determine streaming and type of secondary school he/she goes to.

If a child has been obtaining consistent good results, many parents may feel confident that he / she should be able to do handle well in PSLE by default. However, if the child starts showing down trend in school results, it will inevitably cause parent’s anxiety.

I also believe in giving a child a happy and memorable childhood life and this is always been top priority among many parents here as well, I believe. However, there are other areas (i.e. academic aspect as one of them) we need to look into as well. In this meritocracy driven system, we need to strike a balance between sweetness and hardship after all. It may sound easier than done, but we are the parents for bring up our own child, we should know and gauge to what extend we can go.
