This is certainly not true..We even have 12 men sharing a bunk in the army. What is there to scream about with two men sharing a hotel room? It is also not uncommon for 3-4 friends to squeeze into a room on backpack trip. Or do you mean it is more ok for two unrelated, a man and a woman to share a room? Let's don't get too homophobic.

if due to budget constrains, book cheaper hotel, not by sharing room
