      Funx3:

They Have this SWIMSAFE Program Offer-ed where the teachers bring the kids to the Public Swimming Pool to Learn the Basic Swimming Techniques ....

I Remember My Gal Opted Out and Did Not Join in the Year it Was Organised for Her Level ....

Now that this Subject was Brought Up - Reminds Me of A \"BAD FRIGHT\" I Got on the 1st Day of the SwimSafe Program for My DD ....

On that Day, I was Busy Working from Home, and Absent-minded-ly Pick up my Home Phone When it Rang ....

Heard A Kid CRYING, and Keep Pleading in Mandarin, \"MUMMY, They Want to Beat Me, HELP Me ....\"

      - This Mummy Really Got a RUDE SHOCK, :!: :!:
and Try to Talk to the Crying \"KID\" .... But Only Heard Crying ....
(DEAR ME - ALL CRYING KIDS SOUNDS the SAME, I Could NOT Say For Sure that the CRYING KID is MY DD or DS OR NOT ....)

Since I Could Not Get a Response, I Pass the Phone Over to My Husband.

According to My DH, A Mandarin Speaking Man Also Take Over On the Other Side of the Line. He Claimed that Our Child has Been KIDNAPPED and Threatened to Harm the Child IF we DO Not Pay Up ....

Claim they R From Southern China (Hokien) and there R 6 of them ....

While DH is on the Line, I Quickly Check and Ascertain that My 2 Elder Sons R still at Home.
(How Lucky - School Got Something or Other, and they Don't Need to Go that Day ....)

However, my Gal has Gone to School ....
That Really Got Me Worried ....

My Husband Managed to Negotiate with the \"Kidnapper\" - Saying that We Need Time to Raise the Money, and Asked them to Call Back Later ....
And He Called the Police Immediately to Report ....

Meanwhile, I Call Up PH General Office to Ascertain that My Gal is Still Safe in School ....

ALAMAK .... True to Being PH General Office \"IN-EPT\" Character, THEY TOLD Me, After a Few FRANTIC Repeated Calls that My Gal has Left with Her WHOLE CLASS for SWIMSAFE Lessons to the Public Pool ....

Huh? And I Know She Has OPT Out, and My Maid Confirm My Gal Did Not Pack Any Swim-Suit / Towel, etc That Day ....
Now, Does that Mean My Gal Has Really Been Kidnap-ed???? :!: :!:

Now Getting \"REALLY WORRIED\" - Call PH and their Office Staff told Me Students Who OPT Out - Will Stay in their Class Instead ....

And the NEXT CALL to them : They TOLD Me \"YOUR GAL IS NOT IN HER CLASSROOM!!!! CANNOT Find HER, DON'T KNOW WHERE She Is!!!!\"

I Really FREAK-ed OUT, and Together with My DH, Rushed Down to PH Person-ly ....

When We Arrived at the General Office ....
After Waiting Around for another 20 min or So ....

They Finally Inform Us - \"We HAve FOUND Your Daughter .... DUE to the Small Class SIZE of the Students Who OPT Out, the Students R Asked to Stay in ONE ClassRoom in Charity.
Your Daughter is IN the Class .... \"

I Was Relieved and Really FURIOUS at the Same Time, Yet Now is Doubt-ful of What they Told Us ....

      How to Believe Them -
When They DON'T Seem To KNOW What's Happening to the KIDS and
IF They R in SCHOOL Or Not, and
IF In School, Don't KNOW WHERE they R ....
      😢 😢

And we Insisted that they Bring My Gal to the General Office - I Must SEE with My Own Eyes that My Gal Is Really Safe ....
(What If They Mistaken Another Gal As my Kid, And Inform Me WRONG-ly AGAIN????)

Can U Believe the School Admin Who Give U Hellish Answers Like What They Did to Us ....
      :x :x :x :x
I've Never Been So FRIGHTENED my Whole Life ....
All Thanks To PH Admin Office ....

I Got So Paranoic that I Got My Maid to Accompany My Gal (in P3 in those Days) everywhere, Never Out of our Sight for the Next Month OR So ....

Can really sympathise with you. For me, I will really freak out :!: and get hear attack. I will storm into each classroom and look for my DD and won't wait 20 mins or so. Really these Admin staff really can't stand them, must be don't have kids of their own. they ought to :stupid: . Anyway, glad that everyhing work out in the end. 😄

If you want to opt out, you need to write to the HOD,PE (Mr Tan). He is a nice person to deal with, will encourage you to let your kid participate. Some FT will inform stds that it is compulsory, so read the form properly and see whether next year is it compulsory. Alot of parents thought that it is compulsory. You need to pay a small fee for this swimming lesson. It is heavily subsidised by the school. You can also volunteer in this event. For those opt out,the kids will still need to go to school but no lesson will be conducted.
Thanks, comfy. In that case, I may let her participate for the fun of it, exercise. Dd had already attained her Gold Swim Award some months back, that's y I thought if they are going to teach them how to swim, it might be a waste of her time. Since they have nothing else to do in school, might as well go, join her friends and have fun at the pool.

Wow cannot imagine if it were to happen to us. Surely break down & go crazy… so did the kidnappers call back? Any follow-up/update from the Police?

You must be scared out of your wits! I received a similar call before too, just that the kid crying claimed to be my SON! I swallowed a snigger cos I only have DAUGHTERS! I told the person on the line that, and you know what he replied, \"I am your husband!\" :siao: :rotflmao:

I am really \"amazed\" at the efficiency of the PH's admin during a crisis like that! I wonder whether they did something about it after that incident?

Police Just Ask DH to Keep them Informed if They Call Again ....
And Have Nice-ly Asked DH if He can Assist to Catch them, if Given the Opportunity ....

DH has Agreed, But the \"Kidnapper\" Never Call Back Again ....

According to the Police, These Type Of \"PHONE KiDNAPPING\" Calls R Very Frequent, Happening ALL the Time ....

And We Got No Call / News About the \"Kidnappers\" Being Apprehended ....

They Might Have Mistaken Him to B My Son and Call Soon After ....

And Why Did't They Call Back Later As Arranged?
Could B their Lookout Realised the Game is OVER when they See Us Coming Back With ALL our Kids in TOW ....

When We Reflect Back, We Realised that It is REALLY EASY for these CROOKS to Get HOLD of Our HouseHold Info / Daily Habits ....

ALL they NEED to have is a HOME PHONE Directory ....

U Just Open the Page ....

You are most welcome. 😉 Wow! your dd has already obtained Gold Swim Award, your dd is really \"good in study, good in sport\" in chinese (forgot how to say). Those who are really good in swimming, there will be a test/compeition and be given certificate. Yap, the kids would like that but I heard that for kids who are learning to swim might not benefit if the swimming coach just talk but no action. One of the instructors even talked about adult jokes (bee and flower kind of thing). Nowaday, kids are not so navie, they understand.
