I meant that they are MORE simple minded, which is a good thing, cuz some students in IP schools tend to read to much into something. Sorry for not clarifying.

And your evidence for that is?

I studied in an IP school, and I really enjoyed myself. The homework is managable (and it teaches you good time managemet skills, something absolutely necessary for Uni), the peer pressure was healthy and my classmates were great. Competitive, but always helpful and certainly not the kind to stab you in the back. The pressure comes not so much from others, but more from yourself actually IMO.

All of the things you said are found in most schools, not just IP schools.

Ohkay, then go for IP. No, in other schools in Singapore the kids tend to be more simple minded and are under less amounts of stress.
Classroom politics? Ok, things like the social hierachy, bootlicking teachers and stuff, and the intensity of this is 10x that as compared to normal schools.

I don't think that IP schools are so horrible .
IP Schools suit me. I think more homework and pressure is something we have to deal with in secondary school.

If you say so. when i said more, i meant more as compared to that of more mainstream schools. trust me though, it's a lot harder than you think it is. and the key is, don't work hard, work smart.

It doesn't what...it helps open the students' minds, stretch their potentials, discover their passions, etc. Helps students become more independent and adapt to a don't stop learning kind of attitude.

I am STUDYING in an IP school, and while I love this whole system and all, I find my classmates absolutely disgusting. It varies from school to school, really. In my school, almost everyone is for backstabbing, someone stole my notes before the exams, and I actually kept them painstakingly in a file in my bag. Go figure.

So don't you think it's a bit presumptuous to claim that ALL IP schools are as such? Over-generalization much? I'd go so far as to say it varies from class to class. Depends on your luck, really. And such competitive behaviour isn't found only in IP schools; it's everywhere. Sad to hear that your school has such a poor culture though. Mine didn't, thankfully.

And what's so bad about the homework? My cousin did O levels and I'm pretty sure she did A LOT more homework than I did overall. It is managable. Everything is; you just need to plan your time well.

No, I would go as far as to say that such competitive behaviour is largely restricted to IP schools. And well, the workload? Well I don't know, they stuffed us with tonnes of performance tasks that don't make too much sense, bar the history and lit performance tasks. Over this hol I had to take home some work to do for next year as well. So there. Time management? Bah, yea, sure, it's the panacea to everything right? No amount of time management's gonna help if the teacher doesn't like what you are/do in the first place

If you hate IP so much, complain to MOE. You cannot expect everyone to think like you.
