Can any kind soul tell me what is EESIS ?

EESIS means Edusave Entrance Scholarships For Independent Schools. Which means school fees is paid under the scholarship with a quantum of $2400 per annum.

A friend's ds is offer 3rd lang with score 236 but only eligible for category 1 and 2.

Just to check , is category 1 and 2 offered to everyone ?

Last year (2009) EESIS was 261. They year before (2008) was 263. The drop of 2 points in EESIS caused almost all the schools COPs last year to drop 3 ~ 4 points.

If 260 is the COP for EESIS this year, then we can expect the COPs for top schools to be slightly lower than last year.

Anyone knows what is the COPs for 3rd Lang? Last year was 248. If this is lower again this year, then it is confirmed that most schools’ COPs will drop, which is good news for all.

Thank you all for the information given here. i have learnt much today.

My son managed a 263 and he was awarded EESIS + Third Language (3 categories)

in 2010, all the PSLE papers were generally easier than than 2009. Many teachers we spoke to confirmed this observation.

I like to ask why is the EESIS COP lower if the papers are generally easier in 2010 ? Wouldn’t it be more logical to expect the EESIS COP to rise with easier test papers ? Is there any correlation between the difficulties of the paper and the EESIS COP ?

                    thank you.

Agree, you make a lot of sense. This year's top schools COP will be a touch lower. And 260 is EESIS for this year.

When papers are easy, it is easier for majority to do well and hence, lower aggregate score (as you compare how you fare with the whole cohort) Guess, lower COP for Sec schs and lower COP for EESIS
