PSLE 2010 Results Report Here

My DS scored 254+2. Badly wanted to go one of the so-so IP Schools like HCI or NJC. Should I appeal? How likely is he going to go to that school. If not, are there any other suggestions other than VS?

I think it's for the year 2009, not too sure, you can check the HC website maybe? That's true. Anyway, no matter which school, it's not impossible to succeed if you really want to. It's not as if HC is lagging terribly behind RJ, in any case; they're nearly on par! If your daughter's not happy in NY she can always transfer to RJ in Year 5.
Ok Meow! at least I know that you got your info from Hwa Chong's website and only for 2009. Well whatever. Just thought I'd share the facts that I found out.
Hey meow, you mean that Hwa Chong produced more PSC scholars than RJC THIS YEAR? or in the past? I agree that in the past, Hwa Chong is top but in recent years, I find that RJC's A levels far better than Hwea Chong. I think that is because with the IP programme, many good students from RI, RGS , Dunman High now don't go to Hwa Chong but go to RJC and stay in Dunman High. So Hwa Chong has lost a lot of top students.semaj:

On the flipside, HC produced more PSC scholars than RJ. It really depends on the individual, and I agree with kiasuest2 that it's better to match your child's interests with the strengths of the secondary school or she won't be happy no matter how good the school is. -

Hi ds also has 209... having same problem on selecting reputable sch ard woodlands/yishun/bukit batok.... anybody can help... thks :?:
I'm recommend Bukit View, I'm from there. I'd recommend it. The teachers are hardworking and often stay back to help the weaker students. My school focuses a lot on the environment, so our CIP is often environment themed. I mentioned it before, but my class/school mates are one of the most hardworking people I've ever met, they also have the results to prove it! I think my school's strong CCAs are the dances and uniformed groups.
If you don't mind a small school with strict discipline, you can try Peirce Sec (along Upper Thomson Road). Main entrance from Sin Ming Road (beside Bishan Park Secondary School).mrswongtuition:

my son only score 210 for his PSLE result. i dnt know which school should i choose. pls advice me
How bad is it?
I have a friend who's son's score was 67 and she avoided me for a mth as she knew I would ask her if I were to bump into her. She told me she cried for 2 weeks! I told her frankly tt I've not come across anyone who aggregate score is tt low. However, he is doing fine now in Secondary sch and he is such a polite and well-mannered boy, just maybe not so academically inclined or a late-bloomer. So don't be disheartened. I honestly believe psle is just the 1st major exam, not end of the world Smile
I know another who's son is dyslexic and ADHD. Told the mum to find things tt he enjoys and focus more on such areas rather than just studies.
All the best Smile -
Anyone know whether it is compulsory to take HMT in Catholic High?

kiasuest2:
should NOT be basing your assessment on just ONE year's results; I can pick a different year where HCI outperforms RI, no? For the sake of discussion, do you know which JC produces more President's Scholars?
Have you actually seen the A level results? Just to fill you in. RJC had 362 students with perfect 80 points for entry to Uni. That is out of a cohort of 1285. (28.2%). Hwa Chong had 212 out of 1104 perfect scores (19.2%)semaj:

I agree with meow_ as I don't think that \"RJC is top by a mile\" in every department; both HCI and RI has her strengths and weaknesses. It is better to match her interests with the strengths of the secondary school (and the JC eventually).
My point really is to take care to match your child's interests to the strengths of the school/JC and to also consider the other aspects; under the proper environment, the child will thrive. I wouldn't use the fact that one is better than the other (on results alone) as the basis.
Hey kiasuest2, I agree that Hwa Chong has the most number of President scholars over the years. But that is because they have a longer history compared to RJC. Anyway, Hwa Chong had 1 President Scholar last year vs RJC's 2 (or was it 3)and none this year vs RJC's one. -
My DD got 239 ...am thinking if we should risk putting CEDAR as her first choice? She was really upset and cried so bad this morning as she was so hopeful about making it to CEDAR...
Currently other options under consideration are :
Chung Cheng High Main
Xin Min
Nan Chiau
Presbyterian High
Any advice?????? :? -

Got any hope? I kiasu.XiaoYang:
I have a T score of 254 (+1)
Will I have a chance to get into DHS, considering I have a GE status and that the COPs would be lower this year?
Thanks for the help!
I was :!: when I saw my low score of 254. Fortunately, I found out that the PSLE overall T-score also was really low
BTW: I HATE THIS YEAR'S PSLE!!!! ONLY THE CAREFUL PUPILS BENEFIT FROM THIS, NOT THE SMART ONES(like me) :x :x :x :x :x
PS: I have EESIS. -

Sorry, I only know that they are on the new IP school list, but forgot when they are going to implement it, have not been following the info.ksfaith:
No comments/feedback about SJI, but you might want to consider SJI's Independent status and the soon to be implemented IP when you make your choice?
Hi 25hour,
You mean if i chose SJI, My son may be able to switch to IP
What I meant was you might want to find out more about the possibilities of going inot the IP route if you decide to put SJI as your 1st choice.
SJI will be starting their IP wef academic year 2013; see details at
