And your evidence for that is? ...

I am STUDYING in an IP school, and while I love this whole system and all, I find my classmates absolutely disgusting. It varies from school to school, really. In my school, almost everyone is for backstabbing, someone stole my notes before the exams, and I actually kept them painstakingly in a file in my bag. Go figure.

I am so afraid of that. May I ask which school are you from?
gosh o.o i am also studying in an IP school , and i must agree the system is well-planned. About your classmates , i think there's only a minority of such people that are blacksheeps right ? I mean if almost everyone is like what you mentioned , it would just be a competition of whom has more superior skills of stealing and stuff right. but i do agree that there's a handful of despo people who go around stealing notes and i advice you to keep them at home , so they would be out of reach from others(: and i am also kinda curious of what's the school of yours that seems so competitive.

I got 224 and lived in Woodland area. What would you recommend for a good sec school around this area? Is Evergreen ok? TIA
Not very familiar with Woodlands area, but I wonder if the following link might be of help?

INNOVATE:
Parents excercise your choices wisely. Value added is the most important criteria for selection of neighbourhood schools. For high scorers your top choice must not exceed 2 pts from your T-score and your second choice must be in line with your grade.

Would appreciate it if you could elaborate.

If you decide to appeal, yr 1st choice must be RI. Unless you hve something to offer, otherwise chances are slim. I do not wish to commend on your 2-3 choices which are very good schools. Suggest your 4th choice be Catholic High.

Forget about Cedar, unless yr kid has something good to offer on appeal.

Personally think Nan Chiau should be your top choice. Its results are going great guns. As your kid is a HMT pupil, no need to worry about affiliation pt later.
JRexpress, why not consider Zhonghua? It is quite convenient since you stay in Serangoon. I'm not sure about Nan Chiau but both my girls went to Chung Cheng Main. One went on to NYJC and the other to VJC.

Since Cedar is quite out of the question, consider bringing her to the school open houses (those that you're considering) to take a look. She might like the environment there. Who knows? 😎

My DD got 239 ...am thinking if we should risk putting CEDAR as her first choice? She was really upset and cried so bad this morning as she was so hopeful about making it to CEDAR...

Currently other options under consideration are :
Chung Cheng High Main
Xin Min
Nan Chiau
Presbyterian High

Any advice?????? :?

you should go for nan chiau... it'll be moe's 11th SAP school w.e.f. 2012 and it's a band 1 school this year. i foresee more amazing things coming from this school in the years to come. imho, xinmin is on the road to decline. the incoming principal is from a lower ranking sec sch and the school has been slipping down rankings as it is. no offence eh, just my opinion.

Could you advise more about Nan Chiau? I heard some unfavourable feedback on this school.
