Parents excercise your choices wisely. Value added is the most important criteria for selection of neighbourhood schools. For high scorers your top choice must not exceed 2 pts from your T-score and your second choice must be in line with your grade.
Would appreciate it if you could elaborate. -

If you decide to appeal, yr 1st choice must be RI. Unless you hve something to offer, otherwise chances are slim. I do not wish to commend on your 2-3 choices which are very good schools. Suggest your 4th choice be Catholic High. -

JRexpress, why not consider Zhonghua? It is quite convenient since you stay in Serangoon. I'm not sure about Nan Chiau but both my girls went to Chung Cheng Main. One went on to NYJC and the other to VJC.JRexpress
Forget about Cedar, unless yr kid has something good to offer on appeal.
Personally think Nan Chiau should be your top choice. Its results are going great guns. As your kid is a HMT pupil, no need to worry about affiliation pt later.
Since Cedar is quite out of the question, consider bringing her to the school open houses (those that you're considering) to take a look. She might like the environment there. Who knows?

Could you advise more about Nan Chiau? I heard some unfavourable feedback on this school.
you should go for nan chiau... it'll be moe's 11th SAP school w.e.f. 2012 and it's a band 1 school this year. i foresee more amazing things coming from this school in the years to come. imho, xinmin is on the road to decline. the incoming principal is from a lower ranking sec sch and the school has been slipping down rankings as it is. no offence eh, just my opinion.JRexpress:
My DD got 239 ...am thinking if we should risk putting CEDAR as her first choice? She was really upset and cried so bad this morning as she was so hopeful about making it to CEDAR...
Currently other options under consideration are :
Chung Cheng High Main
Xin Min
Nan Chiau
Presbyterian High
Any advice?????? :? -

With 2 points for HMT, that would give her 241. Can try Anglican High too. Also a SAP school, so the HMT points would be useful. AHS's COP last year was 240, so I think your girl stands a good chance.Yes, I realize its VERY risky too and am in deep dilemma, that's why seeking advice out here! and thanks for confirming that!
PS. I forgot to mention she has Merit in HMT (add 2 pts) if SAP sch
Staying in Serangoon. Chung Cheng is not a problem in terms of traveling (via CC line) --- is this the next best option?
And since you are at Serangoon area, Xinmin can be considered too.
Tell her it is not the end of the world that she's not able to get into her dream school. There are other good schools around. -
Just to mention to those parents or existing students that are interested in taking up third language , if you’re going to be in an IP school , it’s not really advisable cos the workload is much heavier than that in primary school and you have to spend almost 4 hours in the MOELC centre once everyweek! And not to forget the homework that would add on to the tonnes of existing work. And when you want to quit it , you really have to survive to the window periods [ maybe that’s only for my school in that case ] and the commitments are huge!
Yep , i know some people are still surviving through third lang although they’re sec 4s but try comparing the number of sec 1 entrances and sec 4s left in the same batch and you would realsie that the drop out rate is SUPER. since the start of sec 1 till now , almost half of my third lang class dropped out ._. -

thanks for your encouragement. I think of that too. Cat High is not a IP school. I thought of ACS(I) which within his reach. Any comment on the sch?et1967:
My son was on RI wait list. He score 253 and got rejected. He got a GE status. Now comtemplating whether to stick to GE/IP sch. Shd I try DH and NJC too? RI says can appeal if want to. Should I?
Of course you should appeal to RI. There's no harm right? At the same time, put DHS / NJC as your 1st and 2nd choice schools. Your son should do alright in the GE/IP schools. 253 is a very decent aggregate.
