unless my niece doesn't mind studying for 5 yrs right  ....emmm shall let them decide. Thanks vynx
Let her choose which is more comfortable for her. Express but struggling might end up in normal the next year.vynx:
my niece has T-score of 191, but my brother considering to put her to normal in better school rather then express in so so school....is it wise to do that :?
is always better to try out Express stream 1st. if your niece can't cope, then switch to Normal. otherwise, you have to be the top 5 in the Normal stream cohort to be able to switch to Express (once a yr based on your yr-end results)
Normal but work hard get to Express the next year . I have seen cases. -

Thank you very much, Innovate.tiger262
I fully understand yr predicament and yr son's desire to enter RI.
COP is forecasted to drop is an intelligent guess. The other unknown factor is the cop of HCI. So if yr son is so determined to head to RI that's make yr 3rd choice very critical.
All being said, there's no difference academically btw RI and HCI our top academic instituitions.
I will go ahead with putting RI as the first choice. You have rightly mentioned that there is not much to distinguish between RI and HCI. But since my son is so keen on RI, I feel it is better to go with his preference and put RI as first choice and HCI as second.
What is the 'third choice' that you would suggest? (since you mentioned that - 'makes your third choice very critical') -

Parents can see whether my reasonings are fundamentally sound or not. If unwise, they can chose to ignore. No need for me to debate further with your childish statement. -

My friend got 243 with hmt 246. what is her chances of getting into RV?HelloKiasu:
Can I get into River Valley high with an aggregate score of 252 with hmt (254)?
Nobody knows because the COP of that particular year is only known after the posting. But I think you are likely to get in, however, it is not guaranteed. -
S1 posting is based on merit
enough said. need no further elaboration
my strategy would be this :
1st choice : dream school, despite the points shortage
2nd choice : must be sure to get in.
in case die die cannot get into dream school, will have no regrets living with second choice
while in second choice, work hard (academically & connection-wise) for a transfer to dream school, through various appeals channel -

If travelling distance is not an issue, i would recommend Catholic High. -
I think whether this year COP will drop is a hard question to answer because it depends on the number of students getting a certain range of scores.
For example, the top scores dropping this year does not mean that the number of students getting 260 and above will drop.
So, we have many KSP parents detectives all over the island, what is the general feeling, whether there is an increase number of students with 250 tscore than last year? From the Nanyang Primary school statistics, I see that the number of students with t-score more than 250 has increased, even though the score of the top students have dropped. If this is true generally across all primary schools, it means that schools with COP of around 250 last year may increase in COP this year. -
Proudparentof2:
Yes, Chu Cheng Main (236-263), typo. Sorry, kind of stressed out now.
1. Chu Cheng Main (cop 208-231)vynx:
Dear All, kindly ask for your advise please for my dd who scored 223. We live in Mount Faber she is from River Valley PS. Our choices so far is:
1. Chu Cheng Main (cop 208-231)
2. Gan Eng Seng (222-239)
3. Peirce (208-231)
Hoping to get Gan Eng Seng but try to strecth it to get Chu Cheng due to dd would like to go to JC. Is it wise?
Do you mean Chung Cheng (Main)? If so, the COP is 236 (236-263).
Should we just drop it since it is too high?
Most likely you have to drop that option as it is too far fetch for your son score. -
