my strategy would be this :

1st choice : dream school, despite the points shortage

2nd choice : must be sure to get in.

in case die die cannot get into dream school, will have no regrets living with second choice

while in second choice, work hard (academically & connection-wise) for a transfer to dream school, through various appeals channel

If travelling distance is not an issue, i would recommend Catholic High.

I think whether this year COP will drop is a hard question to answer because it depends on the number of students getting a certain range of scores.


For example, the top scores dropping this year does not mean that the number of students getting 260 and above will drop.

So, we have many KSP parents detectives all over the island, what is the general feeling, whether there is an increase number of students with 250 tscore than last year? From the Nanyang Primary school statistics, I see that the number of students with t-score more than 250 has increased, even though the score of the top students have dropped. If this is true generally across all primary schools, it means that schools with COP of around 250 last year may increase in COP this year.

a friend of mind whose son could qualify for express but has to go to timbuktoo secondary school, so decided to go for FMSS under normal acad...and did well.....some in SMSS normal acad got promoted to sec 2 express !!

I agree with that. If u r not comfortable with the school offering express and feel that your niece would have normally done better than 191, then can consider the above option of going Normal in a better school coz I also heard friend's kid got promoted to sec 2 express after sec1 normal.

Dd got 238. I live in toa payoh. Which would be the 6 choices? Totally confused. Should i risk putting crescent as first choice or will it be wasted? Will COPs drop this time? If i want dd to get into CHIJ TOa Payoh should that be my first choice?(she is not from IJ primary) If 2 people with same score apply to IJ will the person who put CHIJ as first choice get preference over the other person who put it as second choice?

Try Cedar girls as first choice. COP drop this year.

putting cedar as 1st choice is unwise with 238. even if COP drops this year, it is unlikely to drop below 244.
