My nephew study in Greendale Sec (200 range). The current principal is new to the school (i think posted in this year) is formerly from VS, and he has high expectation from the students.

Punggol Sec (< 200 range) has made improvements in their ‘O’ and ‘N’ for past few years. Hence you can consider it too.

There are more schools to choose in Sengkang or even Hougang. If you can let us know your child score, then I can help to recommend.

When you choose schools, you should not just look at the COP, but should also look at the MEAN and MEDIAN scores.

Why have to look at the MEAN & MEDIAN score?

What so good about SAP school?

Can somebody enlighten me please? :?

Say 5 students get the following score and apply to the same school,
            Student A - 258
            Student B - 210
            Student C - 208
            Student D - 200
            Student E - 198

            Therefore,
            Lower COP: 198
            Upper COP: 258

Mean is the average score for all the students. Hence (258+210+208+200+198)/5 = 214.8 (think round up to 215)

Median is the middle score when you arrange the scores from lowest to highest, so for the above case is 208.

Thus if you get 215 and you apply to this school, you are actually consider the top 50% of the cohort.

If you just look at the Upper COP (258) and not the MEAN & MEDIAN, you may think that this is a \"good school\" as student with such high grade also apply. However if looking at the MEAN & MEDIAN, it shows that most students score are not that high after all.

SAP schools were first established in 1979 to preserve the ethos of the Chinese medium schools and to promote the learning of Chinese Language and culture.

171 for normal is consider alright. You can go to many schools with this score. Below are some recommendations, hope the info is useful for you. If you choose Compassvale or Sengkang, do note that most of their NA students score around 180/179, so it can be challenging for your child.

I think there is also a new school in Punggol. You can also consider it too.

              1) COMPASSVALE SECONDARY SCHOOL ( Mean = 180,\tMedian = 179)
              2) SENG KANG SECONDARY SCHOOL ( Mean = 179,\tMedian = 178)
              3) PEI HWA SECONDARY SCHOOL ( Mean = 176,\t Median = 175)
              4) HOUGANG SECONDARY SCHOOL ( Mean = 174,\tMedian = 173)
              5) SERANGOON SECONDARY SCHOOL ( Mean = 168,\tMedian = 166)
              6) GREENDALE SECONDARY SCHOOL ( Mean = 166,\tMedian = 165)
              7) PUNGGOL SECONDARY SCHOOL ( Mean = 161, \tMedian = 158)

If we list schools with aggregate of 183 and above as 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice, her chance of going will be very very slim right??

If really so, the chance of appeal is also very very slim right??

                Haiz.... headache! 😢

Hi, not sure which schools are you referring to when you said \"aggregate of 183 and above \".

For those schools that I listed down, only COMPASSVALE SEC and SENG KANG SEC have 171 as their lower COP. There are still chance for your child to get into these 2 schools. However, you must know that most students will score higher than your child, hence your child must work additional harder to compete with them.

Why not choose a school that suit your child learning pace and enjoy her Sec school life? Cheers.

Hi, wanted to but my girl insisted on schools with aggregates of 183 and above such as Hai Sing and Pasir Ris Crest.

                        Thanks for your advices.
