All About Kids' Eye-sight

My son was diagnosed with astigmatism when he was in K1. We were told that it was hereditary (both my husband and I have the condition) so do
take note. I was not aware that eye problem could be hereditary. -
anyone has recommendations on which shop offers reasonably priced progressive photochromatic lens?
-
does anyone know where can i get Unbreakable Glasses for my 5yr old son
-
There is no such thing as unbreakable glass, just how hard it can "tahan". Why don’t you consider plastic then?

My daughter is just in K2 and she is being diagnosed with low myopia and astigmatism. Is there any recommendations on how to treat or improve her condition? She is not a TV or games eddict and she always will have ample lights when she is reading or writing.
I would like to bring her to a optician but I do not have any optician in mind. Heard that a good optician is very important for young children as a non-experienced optician will not be able to make accurate measurements of the focus of the lens. Is there any recommendations of any optician that is good with children? -
Hi,
Usually preschool kids are referred to the refraction clinic at polyclinic for further checks. They will be the ones who will issue the prescription. The optician in the malls are not able to do it for pre-schoolers. -
My girl just diagnosed with Astigmatism and she is just in K1. She has pretty serious Astigmatism over 300 for each eye.
In fact, she was diagnosed by Singapore Health Board Nurses that visted the childcare.
They then refer her to SHB @ SGH. Due to her serious Astigmatism, they then refer her to NUH again.
Optician won’t be able to diagnose for children under 7 years old.
They need to refer to the eye centre where a thorough diagnoses will be carried out. It requires eye drops on the child.
Unfortunately, the only help for her now is wearing glasses to get her vision corrected. -
I think myopia is hereditary. Both my parents wear glasses and all five of us too. Had seen many parents with glasses have all the children wearing too.
Also to share, I know from a parent recently that her kids are wearing a type of corrective contact lens during sleep to correct the eyesight - for what type of treatment i din ask her. Anyone heard of it? -
