[yr DD score is only below the COP of NYGH (last year) by 1 point,

it def makes sense to indicate it as 2 nd choice, since u already have RGS for 1 st choice.

But if she does not get in to both RGS and NYGH, will she be disadvantaged with NJC as a 3rd choice? I am worried about this.

      Thanks for answering my queries.

      shdn't worry, No disadvantage
as the S1 posting is according to merit (t-score)
so far, from what i read/heard, moe's reply is that No 2 T-scores are identical.

is there a compilation of the scholls COP and Band grade in a single spredsheet available for easy viewing?

There is a list for COP, but not the band grade.

On Cedar, MGS, SCGS and ST.Nicks

If my dd is the one involves, i shall base my selection on the basis of the following factors in accordance to its importance:

            1. Distance
            2.CCAS
            3.School Fees

Is a very very close finish btw the four just like a 50M swimming competition. They are our best 4 girls’schools outside RGS and NGHS.

Cedar Girls- Is the most consistent performer out of the 4. Has never failed to finish below band 1 over the past decade. Very strong in atheletics. This is the best neighbourhood school to emerge over the last twenty yrs. Soon to shed its neighbourhood status, its girls are known to be well-behaved, intelligent, hardworking and take pride in their sch. The main weakness is that the sch has no outstanding performance in an academic subject at national level relative to the other 3.

MGS-It has a rich history, alumnus and prestige. Niche ccas include: swimming, bowling, golf and gymnastic. Base on the latest 0-level results, the sch toppped thje nation in english and english literaure. It aslo had secured 100% pass rate for 0-level chinese. Its main weakness relative to the other 3 is its weakness in maths and science.

SCGS-Similar to MCGS, it also has a rich history, alumnus and prestige. Very strong in dance, squash and gymnastic. Academically, it has been amongst the tops in english and english literature. Its recent 0-level results hve proven that it shares the nation’s top performances in maths and science with Catholic High. The sch has the best academic performance among the 4. Its main weakness is chinese the weakest of the 4.

ST. Nicks- A SAP school, which produces many bi-lingual ladies each yr. A very strong rivalry exist btw Cedar girls, this sch is also very strong in atheletics. Due to its SAP status, the sch has the best chinese results. It is also amongst the tops in maths and science. Is main weakness is it is the least cultural diverse vs the other 3.

Recommendation: Btw MCGS and SCGS, choose base on distance.
Btw Cedar and ST. Nicks, shoose Cedar if you want yr
want yr dd to study in a culturally diverse enviroment.
Choose ST. Nicks if you want to improve yr chinese or
for the highly talented who aspire to hve a go at the
            PSC China Scolarship.

The above is merely my opinion to assist parents in making this very difficult decision.

To follow the suggestion of putting your first choice as your dream school, is 7 points too much of impossible? I am thinking of Temasek Sec COP 230, followed by Mayflower/Gan Eng Seng COP 222. My dd’s t-score is 223. Is the first choice a waste?

Will she still stand a chance of getting a place at Gan Eng Seng since her t/score was only better than GES’s COP by 1 point?

My answer would be yes its a waste of first choice. 7 points difference is too wide. Put Gan Eng Seng as first choice then; since you seem concerned if she can get into Gan Eng Seng?

                      thanks for d swift response.

do you think he stands a high chance to AH?
                      he loves the school too.

i need to put carefully the second choice.. i m in dilemma between TKSS and CCHM or Nan Chiau..
his form teacher advised to go like TKSS,Dunman or NgeAnn as they are more on sport and ICT which suit my son.
Does it mean chinese culture school teaching chinese calligraphy kinda those stuff????
i m not sure he will love the chinese culture in CCHM eventhough he is in HMT. i worry he may struggle with it... 😞
as i m a pr here, i m not sure either what differentiate chinese school and other school in teaching/program or?

Hi, i m new comer here.

seeking everyone's advise on wiser choice for my son with 236+1 tscore

                      1.Anglican high
                      2. TKSS
                      3. Chung chen
                      4. Nan Chiau
                      5. Dunman
                      6. Temasek

Honestly his dream school is VS, but isnt it too far gap to put in as 1 choice?

                      Thanks all!

Yes, 236 is no way for VS. Don't waste your choice.

I would switch CCHM as 2nd to take advantage of the HMT.
