HI! wow, small world! which class was he in? i am still thinkin hard....we went to scout a few schools today, to see the location and the accessibility. went to see chong boon, montfort, bartley and bendemeer. of the 4, bartley is most convenient by mrt access but the walking distance from the station to the school is really too long a distance... if only ds had gotten slightly better score, then pierce would be so good for us
hi, you're welcome. For banding, let's say if bartley is band 9 for express, it means that the avg kid in the sch will get approx 18 pts for 6 subjects for o level. May apply for jc.mum-to-2:
Thank you very much - I truly appreciate your input and will check out the mentioned schools. dont know much abt med, mean and banding and dont really know what it means. i think it would be tough to appeal for a place in cat high, even with religion, but i must add that CHS principal Mr Lee and my boy's teachers have been really very supportive and nurturing the past 6 years.....
My ds also from chs. So now also applying for schs. In fact submitted already. It's true that the teachers are very supportive. My ds is lucky to have 4 nice teachers this year. -

He got 251 for 2009 PSLE and going on to sec 2 next year in VS :celebrate:tutormum:
Total: 335/400. Estimate that he'll get about 250 - 260. :xedfingers: :xedfingers: :xedfingers:
around 252

hi mum-to-2,
saw your consideration list..noticed Monfort is under consideration..just to share what I know of the school..used to have a student from that school, taught him form Sec1 to Sec4..no good impression with that school, as I saw the negative influnce on my student gradually..very sad whenever I think of him..think the discipline there is very lenient..if u want to know more, pls PM me..in case some parents are not too happy with my comments..but of course, I'm basing on just 1 case..but personnally, I think it's good enough to judge.
Know u having a hard time choosing schools..I know it's really tough..good luck!!

Hi
Need some advise on choosing sec schools.
My DS score 203 (Express) and there are limited schools to go near clementi/jurong area. She likes dancing, so few choices in mind are new town sec (but COP is 207 sigh!), tanglin sec (median lower than mean, what it means???), kent ridge, clementi woods (not offering chinese dance), hong kah, jurongville…
any other available choices?! Help! -
I found this in the RI website --- Answers by Principal of RI.
1. What is the difference between GCE “A” Level and IB? Which is better for my child?

What about RV and MGS? Also, I think distance should be not a consideration factor but the overall enviorment. That said, Crescent is good too.[/quote]Thank you everyone for sharing your thoughts and guidance. RV is a good choice but my husband prefer to send her to Girls' only school. So my choice is limited.
They are staying in the West. Dunman High is not near the West at all.Jennifer:

257 going to cresent is a bit waste. maybe dunman high??? :?
Crescent Girls is a very good sch. Definitely not a waste.
As of now my prefernce goes to MGS and Option 2 as Crescent.
Any idea what is this the main difference if we compare MGS vs Crescent?
