MOE rank the student with the highest t-score first, i.e. the student with the highest t-score gets to choose his schools first before anyone else,and it goes done the line, hence PSLE is a placement exam

vk2010, the issue comes when there is a mix of SAP schools and non-SAP schools in the choices.

Let me restate iikengkeng's' doubt with a hopefully clearer example of 3 kids A, B, C and D.
(Assume no other kid in this range, all decimal places for all 3 scores as 0)
tscore= 261; no HCL; choices: 1. RGS 2.NYGS 3. VS
A: tscore= 260; no HCL; choices: 1. RGS 2.NYGS 3. VS
B: tscore= 259; HCL: Merit ; choices: 1. RGS 2.NYGS 3. VS
tscore= 258; HCL: Distinction; choices: 1. RGS 2.NYGS 3. VS

MOE system:
1 seat left for RGS; 1 seat for NYGS

First D get in to RGS - straightforward.
Questions to be answered
1.\tNow for A, B, C who is considererd next?
2.\tWho gets the NYGS?

Personally I think it will a complex iteration. And my guess is
1.\tA should consideresd next. Since choice 1 is out, choice 2 will be considered. This being a SAP school and no HCL marks to be added, system will calculate his \"SAPSchoolScore\"= 260 and put his case on hold)
2.\tThen B is considered. Since choice 1 is out, choice 2 will be considered. This being a SAP school and 2 HCL marks to be added system will calculate his \"SAPSchoolScore\"=261 and put his case on hold)
3.\tThen C is considered. Since choice 1 is out, choice 2 will be considered. This being a SAP school and 3 HCL marks to be added system will calculate his \"SAPSchoolScore\"=261 and put his case on hold)

4.\tNow it will evauate that though B and C are tied in their \"SAPSchoolScore\" , B has a higher Tscore so will be choosen
5.\tAnd the COP for NYGS will be stated as 261


Ok this is a very simplified example, surely MOE must have worked out a hundred different scenarios and how to process the options

St Nic's is a all girls school. Nan hua is mixed. Both are SAP schools but St Nic's is also a mission school. I believe St Nics standard is slightly higher than Nan Hua. I don't know what is your DD's score but for me, I prefer a all girls' school for my DD to a mixed school.

St Nics is functioning at a temporary location in Toa Payoh and will move back to their upgraded campus. Since the school will become IP in a couple of years' time, I would think that it would get more \"funding\" from MOE. Just a guess.

with affiliations, can anyone recommend which schools got affiliations in west area? thinking of transferring my daughter to such schools like la salle but was told that q was really long. what are my chances then?
any help is greatly appreciated…

My son is very interested in RV. He got 252+2. Is it safe for him or not?

I think your son has a good chance to get into RV. Put as first choice.

Appeal only begins after posting result is released, you can do it on the same day itself.
You can't base on the last COP to appeal. You need to be certain that the child can't get in this year before appealing.

T-score is not everything. 254 should safely get into RV.

in the briefing for parents last Thursday, it is stated very clearing that if the cut off point is 263, what it means is that anyone without HCL needs 263 to enter, and anyone with 262 plus HCL pass can enter, or anyone with 261 plus HCL merit pass can enter, or 260 with HCL distinction can enter.

so, if you don't have HCL, you need 263 to enter. THAT IS the cut off point. I got my facts right. It is NOT misleading. You get a discount if you have HCL. Read my post carefully first

Both you and 25hr maid are working on the same set of facts but the interpretation is different. Maybe a re-phrasing of the statement would make more sense. Let me explain.

The COP for NYGH is 263. Which means that if you do not have HMT, you would have had to score 263 to get into NYGH. If you did have HMT, your score would have been 262+1, 261+2 or 260+3. So the lowest score of someone entering NYGH last year during the S1 posting exercise was 260 (IF you do not take HMT into account.) I believe we agree on this.

So yes, the COP is 263 (including HMT). But actual scores of the students getting into NYGH could be 260 (minus HMT).

Perhaps it's how we phrase it. Official COP of NYGH = 263.
BUT actual score of last student entering NYGH at S1 posting could be 260.[/quote]I read the 2 sentences in RED v carefulley, word by word....
the 1 st sentence, i believe anyone who reads it will surely interprets as
\"does not include HCL bonus points\" meaning that the pupils cannot use the HCL bonus points (regardless of 1, 2 or 3 points)
to add to their T-score to meet the cut-off-point.
so the 1 st sentence is incorrect.
BUT the 2 nd sentence is correct, it is the lowest t-score for anyone without HCL to get into that SAP school.

Anyway, Jtoh has already explained it very distinctly

so in short for the sake of other P6 parents who are applying for SAP sec sch
ADD 1 , 2 or 3 points to the T-score if yr child has HCL
ADD 0 to the T-score if yr child has no HCL
i think Simple as that.............

We were quite worried as 95% of her new classmates has a higher T-score than her and we wonder if she can cope. However, this year's results shows that she is the top few in her class. She simply loves her school so much and we are seeing a happy and self-motivated child each day. To us, this is more important than anything else.
It is very true that T-score really doesn't determine everything, it is just an indication to show if the child can get into the desired school !
