ds has been with berries since k1.I must say they have done a good job in his foundation.

Sadly we are calling a quit, tho he will be pri 6 next year.Reason being berries has changed the schedule into 3 hr session instead of the usual one hour 45 mins for paper two.My thought is berries is good for young little kids, as its fun and captured the children’s mind.My younger child is with berries now.She can read a full passage now.

      regards
      Leanne

            yap_susan:
K2 preparatory class for P1. But I understand that TH \"one term\" is 10 weeks, whereas Berries is 12 weeks.

Im in Berries now (actually from N2 till now <K2>). And i also just started putting my boy in the holiday Tien Hsia classes (K2 preparatory for P1).

As at lesson 2, my boy's comment is: TS is easier than Berries....

Anywas.... its only just started - shall let him do one whole term before 'commmenting' further....

When we came back from overseas, my DD speaks like an Angmo.

So, we send her to TH @ Bishan. She was with them towards later part of K1 and proceed onto K2. I noticed improvements during K1. However, during K2, I discovered that we have to prepare her for her Chinese spelling. And there were words that she doesn’t understand and not covered during class time thus she has problems remembering or her strokes of writing it was wrong. She was emotionally penalised. Then from mid-year onwards, we noticed the teacher-turnover ratio went up. Thus, we were not able to keep up with the changes and getting feedback wasn’t easily.

I decided to switch her over to Berries at Bishan as her school is doing HMT at P1 level. I must say that ROI is positive after assessing her sch results and feedbacks from her CL teacher.

                      Hi Leanne,

How young is your younger kid? She attended how many sessions then can read one full passage?

wow. all this is such excellent endorsement for berries.

i also was quite drawn to the fact that berries makes chinese fun. quite in keeping with their cute name.

makes me wanna sign up for DD who is in N1 next year (just a couple months more!).

but what am I going to do with my si wu kuai du series that i bought? haha... i guess there are mummies who are fluent in mandarin though it's not quite their mother tongue, and still send their kids to berries?

hopping over to the teaching chinese thread for more insights... 🙂
