The 3 books will be kept by the school. that's why when you buy textbooks, the lady asked for your child's name and tick it so they know the 3 books have been paid for (but not collected). I only realised later why they did so....
According to my husband who bought my kid's books last year, the supplier passed some of the books like English worksheet and a couple of other texts directly to the school.mummypig07:
Hi, may i know all the books purchased been given to us? Mine short of 3 books (publisher: NCPS), suppose to keep by the school or will pass to us when school reopen? My blur hubby didn't asked them la, so blur...

I think it is better to send my DS to the 10 days camp, scare he might not be able to catch up with the class later. kaisu a bit...hahaha -

Is it so? For mine, it states \"Your child will be placed in Primary 1H in 2011\". It's \"2011\" and not \"orientation day\". I am quite surprised to hear that the class is only for that day.
Based on last year's experience, the orientation class is temporary. There will be another letter to inform you the actual class. For us the letter on the orientation stated it very clearly that this is the arrangement.b2b3m4:
My girl shared the same thing about English. Something like the teacher make a sound like 'ber' (as in the sound of the letter B) and the children needed to circle the picture that starts with the same letter. She said it was easy peasy, too boring.
Maths, every student came out to answer a simple Maths problem and then pressed a number for the next student to answer :?
For Chinese, think they need to read a passage, then after which write their name in Chinese and paste the sticker on their clothes.
So they will re-shuffling of class again? So should i not label her school books yet until the letter comes along? -
hi there, my boy is also in 1G 2011! might have met you on 22 Nov 10 orientation day

am surprised to hear that 1G is their \"temporary\" class! and yes, i am thinking besides school bag, phone card, what else to prepare fo my DS. -
Hi there! My boy is also in 1G 2011! Am surprised to hear that this is just \"temporary\" class for them here. Also thinking, besides school bag, wallet, phone card, what other items to buy before school reopens.

According to a parent whose children is already studying in the school. The test conducted on our kids on orientation day was to assess whether they are on par with the rest. Usually if there is a letter to recommend to attend certain courses, it means the child is weaker on that subject.
DD is already taking ballet now. I've checked with her whether she wld like to take up dancing in school. She wasn't keen and prefer to continue to follow her teacher at Dancepointe.
Parents,
1. For a start, how much shld we give our kids as pocket $. Especially since the kids recess are already covered?
2. Do we need to give them a phone card?
3. Do we need to pack in all the 1st semster books?
4. Stationary: pencils, eraser, ruler, color pencils... anything else?
5. was there a handbook in our booklist or given on 1st day of school?
And just thinking if we want to get to know each other better. My DD is in Class 1G. -

Which RC you referring to? I'm under Sengkang West Zone 'A' but there's no Wushu classes. I only let my son attend the 3G Abacus in that RC on every Thu night at $150 for 10 lessons. I think I'll continue for convenience instead of NCPS's one.Vevey:
I also signed up for both the 10-day english & chinese enrichment courses. There are also many weekend prog when school starts. Any parents actually let your child attend such CCA from P1? I like many of the prog (like badminton, wushu, arts etc) but timing seems to clash with each other and add up to be quite expensive. Any advice if I should let my son to go for such things at P1? I also heard that for badminton, if don't join from P1, they won't accept when at P3. Is that true? Tks.
The pt is not to let ur kids join too many activities until no time for family & homework during weekends.
I hv friends who send their P1 kids to 1 of these activities & add 1 more when they r in P3 while I prefer DS to continue taking wushu from our RC as timing & venue r more convenient for us.
My neighbour just signed her P3 DS up for intermediate badminton this yr, as the beginner class clashes w his other activity. The coach tested him 1st to c if he can cope w the intermediate training.
For your neighbour, does his P3 DS joined the badminton class since P1? If not, they do take in at P3 for beginner class? Tks!
My RC is at blk 201b. U just come over to the basketball court to look c lah. 8-10pm every fri, excluding public hols & rainy days.
My neighbour's DS joined badminton only at P3 this yr. Coach actually 1 2 start him from Beginners but agreed to let him join Intermediate bcos Beginners timing clashed w something else.
Re name tag, Just iron w the shinny stuff on. I also sew the 4 corners of the tag for the proper uniform as it doesn't stick as well as PE T-shirts.
Re Class, it shld b ur permanent class le. Bcos during the orientation classes for 2009 were labelled as Class 1,2 ,3...10 & switched to 1A, 1B... when it's official. -

I'm also thinking of letting my son join in P3 when he's taller and older, think easier. Hopefully they accept since he doesn't join from P1.
This yr, the class is labelled as 1A ... 1J, not 1, 2, 3..... see if we receive another letter in Dec. Thanks! -
