      dear all,

gal going to P1 next yr. any recommendations for assessment books?
too many choices, don't know which is good.
I would recommend Math Challenging Problems by Andrew Er and Problem Solving Processes in Mathematics by Fabian Ng

Fabian Ng's only has P2 onwards.

Andrew Er has at least 2 assessment books. The challenging one might not be suitable for a child who is weak in Maths. Not all qns have detailed workings on how the ans is derived. The other one has graded qns, I think 3 levels - drilling, etc, etc.

          Hi all,

I heard from my colleague that her daughter's sch didn't use the Maths Homework Books that were listed in the booklist. Is it same for all schools? :?

I just discovered a new one for P1 maths:

            http://www.p1math.com

            Seems as good as http://www.problemsums.com.

My DD likes the format and question graphics of http://www.p1math.com. She also likes the free games in http://www.problemsums.com.

I'm glad to have discovered these 2 sites.

But i have problem creating an account as they stated they only work with schools... how?

              P2 Maths

              Qns

There was an equal number of red beads and blue beads in a bottle. 218 red beads were taken out and 128 blue beads were added in. How many blue beads than red beads are there in the bottle now?

              ---------------------

what is the working expected for this kind of qns? :?

draw model. it will be very clear then.
                R--------------------------
                B--------------------------

                then

                R----------218-----------

                B----------------------------128---

no. of blue beads more than red beads is = 218+128=346

Hi tankee! Long time no talk.

                  In the end:

                  Red: x - 218
                  Blue: x + 128

                  128 + 218 = 346
