I would think that it's fair to say that kids from rich families have more opportunities for expensive (= better?) tution and \"enrichment\" courses BUT not EVERY one of them emerge as top scorers in PSLE. I know of rich families whose children were just so so in their studies despite the amount of tuition they received.
Thankfully doing/scoring well in important exams is NOT the sole priviledge of the kids from rich families! We have many examples of kids from not so well-to-do families who does just as well if not better than kids from rich families ranging from PSLE to O-levels, A-Levels and even at universities. -
I have a problem identifying the result for the 2 ACSs.
Is ACS Junior the 276?
How come there’s another ACS J with 272 (is it the Barker Road one?) -

ACS(P) has 2 GEP classes in every level from P4-P6 so the boys are supposed to do well.
Btw, most of the P6 GEP students if not all have been provisionally admitted to the 7 IP schools RI, RGS, ACS(I), DMH, HCI, NYGH & RV and they tended to relax in the PSLE exam and it is particularly so after 2007.
Yr 2005 marked the 1st batch of DSA students to IP schools and for the 1st three years they still tried hard to get into top scorers. After 2007, the IP has been stabilised and u could hardly see those GEP students already in the IP DSA attempting very hard to become top scorers as they are already in the IP schools.
U start from zero when u get into secondary school. -

I agree with you fully, sinoboy. Unfortunately, that is how the system is. But it should not be so.
Some children from poor families may do well. But they are doing so, in spite of the heavy odds they face. They do not have the luxury of 'enrichment' or 'individual 1-to-1 exclusive tution' which the rich kids readily get. -
Hi, I have an aggregate score of 262 and I am going to appeal to Raffles Institution since Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) accepted me under the Direct School Admission Exercise. Can someone tell me if I stand a good chance with this score. Thank you, all replies are greatly appreciated.
