SCGS highly likely you can get in even if you stay > 2km if you have very deeeeeep pocket - can bypass balloting
![/quote]As far as I know, that is not true. In fact the old principal absolutely frowned upon such practices. -
Yes, I agree that the schools in Singapore will not and should not be doing this. The donations accepted should be coming from existing parents who feel they can help the school financially.

By the way, anyone know whether the school would issue us PV Certification Letter in order to reg during the Phase 2B period?
Titank for my case, the school sent out a letter certifying we have completed the 40 hours some time before the the 2B registration date, together with the application form. They emailed us earlier to double-check our mailing addresses.hamster:
Hamster, I had an interview with the principal plus a panel of ppl from the PV ex-co. So guess they make the decision together. How they select PV? The Principal or some sort of school communitee?

That mean can physically mail the form to the Primary School & don't have to go down physically to enroll? In that case maybe early July can go follow up with the school check on the PV certification letter.titank:

Has anyone gone for the interview?

I am one of those who would opt for going to the nearest school as I used to travel from Punggol to Bukit Timah (because of wanting to attend a good school) and I hated it all those 4 years through - those were the times when the bus took hours to arrive and no air-con, no mrt... Why should parents even have to resort to be a volunteer if the school next door happens to be a popular school?
Sorry for missing your point - just some grievances of the past - I am keen to know about being a volunteer too - though I hate to admit I probably have no choice since convenience is of utmost importance to me and my children...By the way, my son is already in K1 this year. Is it too late already? -

I've done my time and when this current P1 registration exercise is done, I am going to speak my peace about this whole PV thingy :x
Jedamum, yah I read that. Every year around this time (near P1 registration), some parent would inevitably write such a letter to the papers. I guess it comes from their frustration at being rejected as a PV?jedamum:
have anyone read http://www.straitstimes.com/ST%2BForum/Story/STIStory_381198.html?
\"The Ministry of Education ought to review the registration process so as to not to add to the stress of working parents who truly want to put their children in the best schools through a fair process.\"
I wonder if the writer realises that those working parents who pv-ed in the school doesn't find it as stressful as if they have no chance of pv-ing despite living really close to the school
Well, cant satisfy the whole world.. -
