      Vanilla Cake:
      Dear Brenda10,

From the question, it's stated that the total perimeter of the shaded parts is 8 m so why should we rearrange the 2 shaded rectangles to form a figure that have 3 shaded rectangles side by side?

I think that it's good idea to post the complete question with the diagram for other KSP members to see and provide their feedbacks. Could you pls help to post this question?

      Thanks

PS: I don't know how to resize the diagram so I can't help much. If not, just wait for the online version for this paper to be available so that we can provide the link for this question.

      Thks.
      Dear VC

I still think your sister answer is right as the 3 shaded parts are not next to each other.

I also can't resize the diagram. Let's KIV this question.

BTW, we are happy to learn from you in all these questions.

      Thank you.

        Dear Brenda10,

I have PM for you. From the 5 sets of 2010 P6 CA1 Maths papers that my younger sister had done so far, it's still manageable as only 2 new topics are added - net and algebra. With 2 more topics - circles and speed to be added, the SA1 papers will not be easy compared to the CA1 papers.

According to http://www.orlesson.org/orp/, the 2010 exam papers will be available from Jan 2011. Let's KIV this question for the time being and I will post it again to seek help from other KSP members.

I am too happy to learn from you and DD too,助人为快乐之本.
        😉

PS: I have posted 2 English questions from http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?p=308264#308264 in PSLE English thread.Real headache. 😞

          Dear VC

          Thank you for your PM.

I agree with you that so far the CA1 Papers that dd did are still manageable. I also have concern with circle and speed as noted so many speed questions being raised few months before PSLE 2010.

As for the English questions you mentioned in the other forum, our answer also slightly different from the answer key.

We are also happy to have both of you 志同道合 and also others 高手great support in our learning journey.

          Cheers

Instead of multiplying a certain number , A, by 50, Dick multiplied it by 15. The answer was 1575 less than the correct answer. Find the correct value of A x 5 +5.

Imagine the number A as 1unit in a model.

              50 x A will be 50 units.
              15 x A will be 15 units

              The difference = 50 - 15 = 35 units

              35 units = 1575
              1 unit = 45 (which is the number A)

              A x 5 + 5 = 45 x 5 + 5 = 230

                  Dear VC

These 3 question, DD answer same with your sister.

For Q5 in this paper, her working is as follow:

                  1 to 9 --- 9
                  10 to 99 --- 90 x 2 = 180

                  297-189 = 108
                  108/3= 36

                  Therefore 9+90+36= 135

We have doubt at that time but did not seek for clarification and thank you that you have highlighted.

                  Best Regards

Hi VC, when tried to solve, my answers were same as your DD. Sometimes, the answers, especially from topschools practice papers, can't be trusted....

No problem as P6 CA1 Maths exam are not as significant as P6 SA1/Prelim Maths exam for most people.
Has DD started doing 2010 P6 SA1 Maths exam papers? This morning, I browsed through the 14 sets of 2010 P6 SA1 Maths exam papers and noted that some questions are not so easy.

                      Thks.
