Thanks! phew... my collegues r telling me to expect 8-9 hours (ie dun trust the KTM website) ..anyone knows if first class have tv ?? cos not sure my 2 boys can stay still throughout....are taxi coupons expensive & valid for how long ? Underst I can buy it at major shopping malls.
Hahahaha.....
Your colleagues may be right, with all the delays, who knows.
Maybe you could bring some form of entertainment on board eg Nintendo DS or PSP for your boys?
As far as i know, taxi coupons are valid for the same day of purchase. Yes, major shopping malls have stands which sell these coupons.
I purchased a coupon to get to KLIA from the stand outside the hotel which was slightly cheaper than asking the hotel concierge to get for you. I think the hotel also gets the taxis from the same stand! -

We just came back from KL, went there on KTM train, start on time at 8am and reached KL Sentral at around 3:30pm (scheduled time is 2.54pm). Was on first class train, they do have a tv, but no one is watching it. We brought alot of board games to keep the kids occupied, and alot of titbits, and it is like a picnic, eat from start till end. Supposedly to go KL to buy the return ticket, but out of expectation, all train ticket was sold out for the day we intend to come back. :!: Make a mad scramble to look for coach back, and manage to find Grassland coach, for RM60,Royal VIP class. You will have to buy taxi coupon at the KL sentral, and cost us RM13 for trip to Bukit Bintang. -
I mean small board games, as the seat handles is too small for a full size monopoly. Bring card games.

can I ask how r the conditions of the trains? I previously took the sleeper trains… but that was like 10 yrs ago… was thinking of planning a trip up, but I’m worried that the trains are not maintained properly (ie. dirty, skanky etc)… can share your experience?

Quite ok, at least the carpet didn't smell. But the toilet is still quite bad. They do have one cleaner walking up and down the train with a cleansing spray on hand to clean up anything. One of the kids puke, too much of titbits, and the cleaner was very quick to clean it up. We took the train ride mainly to let the kids experience long distance ride, and they enjoy it, but the question is still there \"Are we there yet?\" -
hmm… looks like its very much the same… thanks!!

Alternative trave plan to KL
Take budget airline Tiger Air SIN/KL/SIN - S$16-40/pax 45mins
Airport tax total - S$50/pax
Take shuttle bus airport to KL Sentral - RM$8/pax 60mins
Take LRT TO Bukit Bintang/Umbi stn -RM1.6O/pax 10mins
If you can plan your itenary ealier ie book your tickets online a month ahead, you should not pay more than S$30/pax return.
Think you arrive in better shape. -
Thanks Carebear…we booked the train tickets to KL on the 24 Dec -8am . Will also stay at Berjaya Times Square hotel ( expensive now only left the $200 plus & above) to enjoy the theme park called Cosmo’s world.
Do you think i shd book the transport to Colmar Tropicale online now ?
Also, we didnt book any tickets back to Singapore on 31 Dec…:p Was crossing our fingers to take the coach back from Afamaso resort …or does anyone think we shd first book some coach back to Singapore from the travel agencies now.
kinda feel a little insecure cos didnt book tickets back. -

We also did not buy the return train ticket back and end up all train ticket were sold out on our return date, which happen to be a public holiday. The Grassland coach ticket counter is just opposite the time square, underneath the overhead bridge. That might be your backup. Thanks Carebear....we booked the train tickets to KL on the 24 Dec -8am .
