Reading this tread brings back lots of memories:) I love those simple games like zero-point, 5-stones, chartay, catching spiders, dragon flies, making kites (including the cooking up of glass coated strings!), fixing my first bicycle from scrap pieces found or stole:P Those were the days:)

I also missed the time when I was participating in NDP. I was holding the flashcard. Last time we made beautiful pictures by turning the flashcards, which was actually a book.

I found some chartays at the Kampong glam shops and the paper balls but aren't totally the same as last time.

I were lucky to have stayed in a kampung. All the real fun is there.

We do fishing, boating, catching butterflies/dragonflies with fishing net (only net that's available for us or else badminton racket), zero-point at our big compound, draw boxes with numbering 1-10 on the cement and jump... call tiao beh long?, play five stones, paper dolls, ride on adult bicycles, do some trees climbing, pluck fruits to eat and collect big bag of rubber seeds. Occasionally run to friends house to play.

Of course, not forgetting the lantern festival. We hang all our lanterns and those sparkling sticks on the trees. It was a beautiful sight. Our neighbours are more creative, did some threading patterns to hang their lanterns. Oh yes, BBQ whenever we want. I missed those days

It's a pleasure to sit outside the house to enjoy a cup of afternoon tea whilst enjoying the afternoon breeze. :love:

When I was 4-5 years old, I remembered seeing a lot of samsui women, all in their 50-60s, along my corridor.


They were very bad-tempered and tough looking, and didn't seem to like children much.

But they talked a lot to my ah-mah, who's my caregiver.

I remembered taking a water pistol and shooting jets of water into one of the samsui's women's flat one day. She's not pleased.
