hi, would like to know the fireflies cruise, you went there to book or you book from desaruff too like the fruit farm?

I'm keen to go but not taking any package, might be driving in.
We went there to book directly.

thanks, any good boat agency you would like to recommend? Planning to go end Nov but not sure if it's a good period to go? Not sure if the monsoon will affect the boat rides not. šŸ˜›

What time to reach there to book and then take the ride? Or do you book first and go another day?

Oh, I went there to book, then roam around for dinner to wait for an hour, think we took the 8pm trip else not dark enough, not nice.

But I think sometimes, during peak season, may have to queue.

it is much better to drive there as u will have more flexibility. i was staying in Lotus Desaru last year in a 3-bedroom apartment & was quite pleased. bought 2 more room vouchers for later stays. but NOV & DEC is the monsoon season, so i may just go next year. best go now when the hotel has just been newly refurbished.

perhaps u can use the GPS to get around if not sure. for me i just ask around. the ostrich farm is really far fr lotus desaru, abt 30-40 min away along the long stretch of roads full of oil palms on the sides.

i was not too keen to see the fruits since they were not in season & i've seen most of the fruits anyway. only thing i didnt go was the firefly coz i had old folks with me.

if u're keen to go for traditional bak kut teh, let me know. its abt 30 drive fr desaru. normally sold out by 1pm or earlier. one of the best i've eaten :boogie:.... now i feel like eating it!

Hi, i would hv decided to go desaru n give Lotus Resort a try. Can advise me the nice bak ku teh? Thanks in advance.

Actually i’m considering Pulai or Lotus Resort. Anyone had stayed both before can give your comments? Thanks!

my apologies for the late reply. only got back from my KL-Malacca trip last nite. hope i'm not to late to give you the directions.

from south direction, ie Spore, you will have to turn right turn to Desaru at the cross junction traffic lights. Do not turn, go on until you pass the milestone towards Kuantan 277. Shortly after this & look out on the right for Kiang Kee BKT. large attap house with lotsa cars parked at the road side. do go there before 11.30am.

not my blog but i think her pix says it all:

                        Hi All,

I like to share our recent trip to Desaru during the March holidays. My sons are 5 and 8. We booked a 3D2N stay at Lotus Desaru and stayed at the 2 storey room. We had a suprise cos my hub did not book the 2 storey rooms but they gave it to us, so we took it as a bonus. However, I would still prefer the single storey type as it is rather troublesome to keep going up and down to get things from the luggage.

We drove from Johor. Overall, it should take no more than 1 hr 30 mins drive from Johor to Lotus and very easy to drive there when you follow the road signs - Desaru/ Kota Tinggi. Once the new E22 highway is completed, it should reduce the entire journey by a good 45 mins, I think. As the new highway will start midway from Johor and connect to the traffic junction near to Lotus. The E22 highway is also near to where you get to watch the fireflies at night.

We visited the crocodile farm and fruit farm. Nothing much for the croc farm but I think the fruit farm is worth a visit as it is a good experience for the adults and kids to get to see all sorts of fruits and herbs and how they look like. The mini zoo is quite neat and tidy and you get to feed carrots to the rabbits. We gave the ostrich farm a miss as you can see ostrich at the mini zoo.

We also travelled to Sengai Renggit within Pangerang for seafood at the 'Jade Garden' restaurant. The food was quite ok and they serve standard dishes. You can refer to 'menu' from the pictures on the signboard.

At night, we went to the firefiles which was nearby Lotus. It is definitely much cheaper if you drive there yourself. The resort will charge you RM70 for adult and RM40 for kids. But if you drive there yourself, it only cost RM20 and RM15 respectively. The only problem is it is very dark when you drive at night as there are no street lights lighting the road all the way to the firefly farm. We missed the road on the first night and spent the entire 35 mins searching for the place.

You can travel easily to the various farms and seafood location in Desaru so driving there is definitely good.

Lotus Desaru is rather big with many rooms. My sons are very happy just playing at the Waterpark. The water condition is fine for us though there are some bugs floating on the water. We played at the waterpark and pool for both days.

At night, we went to the Rhu bar for french fries while watching the sea. We ordered a pizza plus two coke for only RM30 which I think is cheap as the pizza was big.

I like the waves there. It was higher than in SG. The good thing is the seabed is flat and extended some distance out. So my sons had a happy time tossing and splashing themselves in the sea as it was not deep. The waves will come crashing down on them. You can bring your swimsuit and do this after breakfast as this is the low tide where you can play in the sea. The sands are much finer and softer than SG too.

Food wise, we had buffet breakfast and dinner included in the package and I think the food was ok. I did not hae high hopes after hearing the feedbacks earlier but it turned out to be alright. But I also overheard that they only provided buffet during school holidays. So you may want to take this into considerations.

All in all, I think the resort is nice and fun to re-visit again. And it is the nearest beach resort from SG.

                        šŸ˜„ šŸ˜„
