          basics:
          daisyt:

Basica, call the school, appeal should start today.

Sall, welcome to the RV family!

thanks, daisyt. just called the school and the staff could not tell me the COP. But she was very helpful in telling me what to bring down to the school to appeal.

Hi can kindly let me know what we should bring down to school for appeal?

My bro got 252 and he didn't get into RV 😞
          He got into Catholic High.

If we want to appeal for RV tomorrow, must he also report to Catholic High also?

if i'm not wrong, you should bring down your report book, photocopy your p4/p5/p6 results.

oh and they'll ask you to fill in this appeal form which requires your choices (and it should put you in benefit if it's your first choice)

and... why you think you should be given a place or something. yeah.

this year's cop is 253, and your bro scored 252. i believe he'll have a place soon 🙂 because in 2008, the cop was 254 and i scored 253. but i got in all the same, just that they informed me really late (dec 29/30) and i had to rush to buy my uniforms 🙂 there are some people who were informed on the first day of school too. i had a classmate who wore his nanhua uniform and came in at 10am because he just received a call 🙂

and may i know what's his cca? 🙂

                Thanks for your reply!

My bro changed a few CCAs during the 6 yrs.
He was in choir p1-p2, sports club, maths olympiad club, science club. He also performed singing twice in Community Centre b4 cos he got v gd voice. And he also scored distinction in maths n science for those new south wales test..
I hope can use these 2 as selling point.

My dad is unsure if we shld appeal as median score is 259 and this means my bro is one of the lowest. Somemore his chinese is not v gd & RV focus alot on chinese, scared he can't catch up.

But i was thinking the more he shld go to RV as the chinese environment
                can improve his chinese..

                Such a dilemma.

is my chance slim if my score is 249+3???:( is being a choir member(pri school) an advantage if i appeal to rv as choral is rvhs’s niche area? i was told by my math teacher that my chance of getting into rv (by appealing)is not high… so i am very worried now

doublesmile10, my advice to you would be to just try. Even if ultimately you are not successful (touch wood!), you have tried and have no regrets. Put in all the points that you think will help you and Good Luck!

i'm an appeal student- and no worries, the environment there is totally fine! 🙂 i'm not strong in chinese either. i got a score of 253+0. not that i failed, but i didn't even take HCL. now i'm doing pretty okay, i guess. not struggling really really hard or anything 🙂 but you'll have to be prepared to put in extra effort for chinese. my chinese teacher is really dedicated and goes all out for her students, and thus i could catch up with the syllabus. although i'm not doing EXTREMELY well in chinese (not average, maybe a lil lower yeah), but i do take interest in it which is what's important! 🙂

and i appealed in through choir too! no worries, RV LOVES to invite guys in for performing arts 🙂 my guy friend got in easily through dance. whileas for girls, i appealed in through choir, but i failed the audition so i was placed in a UG - NCC. but i'm really enjoying myself right now! 🙂

hehe!! you sound exactly like me. i got 253 that year and appealed in for choir. it's an advantage, but like i said, they'll put you through an audition. they're stringent in their selection of people so you'll have to be good. otherwise- if they have many many people who wish to appeal, you'll be placed on the waiting list. and then what will ULTIMATELY give you priority is your willingness to join a UG. which i promptly agreed to. in less than an hr's time, i was given a confirmed offer.

and no worries. do what you want. my teacher didn't encourage me to appeal either. but i did it all the same. FOLLOW YOUR HEART, you make the decisions, YOU CALL THE SHOTS! 🙂

                        Hi white_shimmer,

RV choir always got problem getting boys to join their choir group. There are always no boys joining choir in sec 1. When it comes to sec 2, they will have to force all the boys to go for audition. If you brother has a good voice, I think by selling this point to the school, especially the choir teacher in charge, will largely increase his chance. Hope this small tip will help him.
