River Valley High School [*IP]

The form teacher told me that year 1 and 2 students are not streamed, so all the students are put at random in the classes. No difference between 1A or any other class.

Nomnomnom:
It was actually 3 pages of boys to 6.5 pages of girls. Total 398 pupils.
If one girl and one boy with the same point 252 appealed, can I said that boy has better chance? -

Thanks to all the advices given and Merry Christmas to all of you.
I am sure it is too far and too taxing for the child unless there is a direct bus service to and fro. Please do not torture her with the travelling. I like the idea of staying in the hostel. Alternatively, they can rent their present HDB flat out and rent another one for themselves in the west.WeiHan:

hi exrv1982
it may well be 6 years driving your dd to rv, not just next year.
you may want to consider putting her up in the hostel mon-fri. not sure if there r many rv students staying in/around pasir ris. if only a few, the transport company may not run a service for pasir ris-rv. you may want to call up the transport company and ask if there is demand for this route for 2010/2011. good luck
:celebrate:
We indeed have no choice but RV is the only IP school in her selection and it was my ęÆę ”... We have made an appeal to DHS but it's a difficult decision to make... May I ask what is the diffference between Class A to Class B, Class C... to Class L? Do they make any difference in their teaching mathods? Is class A suppose to be the \"elite team\" of the level? What make them so special?.... CCA or Academic?
If the student don't do well in the class that he or she is posted, will they reshuffle them in next grade or after the mid year exam?[/quote]Do you consider shifting your home in next year or so? For year 1, you can drive her to school until you settle down in a new home. There is a chinese saying \" Meng(4) Mu(3) San(1) Qian(1)). Pasir Ris is too far unless she can be independent enough to stay in the hostel or rent a room nearby. I really like the idea of staying in hostel. You have more time to study and stay in the library and sports activities. Going to DHS is also very far..not really a great deal. Might as well shift home in the next 2 years. I think year 4-6 is the most critical. First two years still ok to waste some time in travelling occasionally. -
Hi! Im white_shimmer's brother. Just got in to RV. Hope can pass the audition cause if cannot need to join NCC. May I know what they will ask you to do at the audition? Do i need to prepare a song or what? Thanks in advance!

even if parents were to fetch to and fro everyday for 6 yrs.
to DHS at least still manageable.....a few of my gal's schoolmates are putting up in pasir ris, punggol areas. -

Not so bad right? Just one expressway connecting, no need to change.

as for us, smooth traffic via ECP.
one added advantage is that DHS school starts at 8.00 a.m instead of the usual 7.30 a.m
and one of the day of the week, it starts at 9.00 a.m ......
(just a bit of info for those who is unaware of DHS sch timing). -

I am the one telling your sis to sell your singing talent. RV has no boy wanting to join choir usually in the first year and some boy with good voice will be \"forced\" to join in sec 2. You don't have to prepare for any song. Just go there and sing anything you like during the audition. They have not much choice with boys. Your sis said that you have a good voice, is it an overstatement? -
:? oops, I'm staying in the east and working in Jurong near RV. traffic is quite congested in the morning and evening. Good Luck to you!
