this one super stuck up......janet_lee88:
[I heard that TLL requires students to take entrance test...and guaranteed fabulous passing rate...also chooses students.
I thought as long as parents are willing to pay...all tuition centres' doors are always open.

I thot tuition is meant only for weak students??? :?
The learning lab is definitely not for weak students. For english courses, their standards are much higher than most primary schools. I've heard of teachers transferring from NYGH to TLL as a full time english teacher. Furthermore, TLL accept students based on their academic results, and my daughter had been on the waiting list for more than a year before being accepted into the centre.

Tuition itself also doesnt mean that the student is weak. Many singapore students have tuition in order to learn ahead of the syllabus so that its easier for them to handle the school curriculum. There's also tuition for math olympiad, and GEP preparation courses for students with higher abilities. -

TLL is not your norm enrichment centre. They choose students based on the schools they attend...I find it hard to believe that too. Like most parents, we would think that kids attend enrichment to get better results...but this centre accepts kids who have good results b4 taking them. Teachers there are highly paid too. TLL has a very comprehensive creative compo writing program too...that's what I understand.

BTW, what is TLL?
TLL starts Presentation in P1. However, you do have a choice of whether to use POwerpoint or just present normally. -

Generally, they take in the top 10-15% of the cohort. For P1 becasue some sch do not have exams, students are required to take a selection test. For P2 onwards, can use the report book .. I think. -
For those with kids going to P2, may I know they will be using the Border Line or Single line exercise book? I have lost the booklist.
Thank in advance. -

Please note that there'll also be a Mental Sums book for Math, also Broad Line.
By the way, there are many P2 parents (2011) in this PH thread. You can check the list of parents in the first page.
