      Hi Rulang KiasuParents

Really appreciate it if someone could enlighten me on what Rulang’s preparation of their P6’s is like. Also, do they need to stay back after school often during weekdays for additional/supplementary classes? When can we expect intensive preparation for PSLE to start? Thanks for your time and answers.

hi everyone. i've just joined the network. my daughter is studying in Rulang too... she will be moving on to 2B in 2011.

anyone has any recommendation for a good maths tutor? At P1, she's only getting 70 +.. i'm a bit worried as i heard the children will be \"streamed\" at the end of P2 based on their P2 results... thanks.

            Hi
Do you know which is her weakness topic?
At P1, it is basic + and -.
Are her mstakes mainly from problem sum or fundamentals or plain careless?
How is her approach towards maths? Cos if she resist at this point and you push on for Tution, it maybe worst.
            Just my 2 cents

              Hi ttyh,

              thanks for your message.
from her mid year paper, she seems to have problem with things like 'more than' / 'less than'. simple and direct ones, she can do. but if you change the qns a little, she gets lost. she associates more than with '+' and less than with '-'. And also, there problem sums which she is not able to fully comprehend.

Honestly, she was so disillutioned after the mid yr paper. her teacher actually told her right at her face that her maths is no good. she came home feeling so sad and asked me to find her a tutor. (p/s: i thot it was rather insensitive of the teacher to say that). i had a hard time trying to do damage control and assure her that she is ok.

since the 4th term, i managed to sign her up for maths class. the class was very small, with only 2 students. she likes the class and we actually see some improvement in her yr end papers. what we are most pleased is that she becomes more confident and not that negative. hence, i believe she needs more practices and having someone to guide her along the way, helping to clear her doubts .. sad thing is that the center closed down this dec. hence i'm looking out for tutor for her now.

i hate to say this, but sometimes, i feel that it may have to do with her age. you see, she is a dec kid, hence almost a yr younger than most of her friends in class, less matured and less confident. i just wish to help to boost her esteem and keep her going and not lose interst in maths.

One quick way is you create 20-30 questions by yourself, all drilling on less than, more than.
On problem sum, no chocie, throw her assessment books.
But the key is mark her paper everyday after you come back so that you understand what went wrong and correct it.
Try \"daily life\" maths on her.
i.e. whenever I go shopping for gorcery with my ds on Sunday, it's always impromtu Maths. I will ask him \"what is 3 packets peas at $0.99 each? If I give $50 what is the change?
If 10 eggs cost $2.30, what is the cost for 1 egg?
or 500ml Knife Oil vs 1Liter Peanut Oil, which is more?\"

                    Hi

May i know if anyone can help me with the above? My 2 DDs will be in P6 and P5 at Rulang next year and I am worried that my P6 DD may be stressed up with the academic rigours of the school. Many thanks for your time and advice.

Can anyone advise beside the 1A textbooks that we need to bring on first day, what about the exercise books? I’ve bought the Chinese flashcards too and do we need to bring on first day as well? Thanks!

I seriously doubt one needs to bring all 1A textbooks on the first day of school. Teaching is unlikely on that day since a lot of admin work to be done.
