because the person doing the class allocation is reading tis ksp forum ............lol !!!This morning when I come to RGS, I find that my daughter has been re-placed into class 112 (so-called GEP class).
RGS, you are great!INNOVATE:
i just got RGS 2011 class list, my daughter is from P6 GEP, why she is put in class 104 which is non-GEP class?
what is the difference between GEP class and non-GEP class?
You should be thankful that yr appeal was successful.
Anyway, when she reaches RI, class posting is strictly base on her yr4 gpa. That's no such thing as gep classes at senior high. -

The termination of GEP/non-GEP classes 2 years ago applies only to upper secondary pupils.
Since 2 years ago, there is no more GEP and non-GEP class. Everyone in RGS goes through the same Raffles Programme which is a school based gifted programme. I think this is a good move, IMHO, to help curtail elitism.fromnuaa:
do you have any idea about RGS so-called gep and non-gep class? i heard that class 109(or 110)-113 are gep classes.
For lower secondary, the pupils are still grouped into so-called GEP (209/10-213) and non-GEP classes. The GEP classes consist of ex-GEPpers from primary school and PSLE high scorers from mainstream.
The rationale behind this practice (as divulged by the school when I enquired) is to allow the non-GEP pupils time to adapt and catch up on certain learning practices/skills which the GEPpers have been exposed to since P4. The segregation allows GEP classes to progress/be stretched at a faster speed and to a deeper level if desired. Although the cohort does largely the same worksheets, differentiated worksheets are given out to the high ability pupils for certain subjects.
By upper secondary, it is presumed that everyone has more or less caught up and are at the 'same level'.

GAT - General Ability Test. -
On another note:
My DD reported to school today for CCA. Here’s some intel: Over a dozen scholarship holders from China join the school at Year 3; two got transferred from other schools, and two returning S’poreans - both from Shanghai. One of the Chinese scholars speaks perfect English with no accent.
Should have some more interesting stories after tomorrow when she joins her class. -
