      helloeveryone:

I'm not sure, but to be selected, i think an A would be neccesary. After the june hols, there will be another shortlisting which only about 25 students are selected for each subject. So since, the student can be chosen for both accelerations, you can start with the one your child likes the most. Because there is also abio in jh3. but you have only two days free - tues and thu.
And i think in jh2, amath will start take the place of the normal math curriculum (sth like banded classes). There is also the math oylmpiad class.
Oh, it's held on the short days? That means those that already have electives on those days cannot do, lah. Math Olympiad class is available from jh1 already.

        Hi parents

        Newbie of NJC here.

Can anyone advise what time we should leave home (Bishan) in order to reach school at 7:30am if we are driving?

Heard traffic is horrible in that area.

        Thanks.

from Bishan, guess you'll probably be coming down Lornie/Adam Rd into Bukit Timah Rd, right?
At 7am, the right turn from Adam Rd into Bukit Timah Rd is really bad.
Do consider getting onto the PIE > exit into Eng Neo > Dunnearn Rd and drop your child at the NYGH/NJC bus stop.
Driving up Hillcrest Road is a bad idea on most mornings when the road is crammed full of \"RGPS traffic\".

By car? I would usually have dropped my younger boy at pri school in Bishan latest by 6.50am before proceeding to NJC, altho' often even earlier than that. I usually aim to reach Eng Neo by 6.50am as that would be most ideal. It would already be starting to get jammed by that time. Then ds would get dropped at the NJC bus-stop gate by 7.10am.

Hi and thanks for taking your time to check this out.

I am a student in NJC and I just took my PSLE last year. I feel a little insecure without much knowledge about the school and would be delighted if anybody would care to share any interesting experiences, information etc. The question I am most concerned of is what time would I have to leave my home if I stay in bulky panjang and want to reach school by 7.05am. Thanks once again! :?:

Hello junior(: I stay in bukit panjang too. I usually take the 6.30 bus and can reach around 7 unless there's traffic jam.

I suppose you meant Bukit Panjang and would have found out what time you should leave your house by today (since school starts today for you). Well, NJC isn’t exactly far from your house. It should take take about 1/2 hr or less, net travelling time. But do aware of the traffic conditions along Dunearn rd. There are a couple of well-known schools over there, HCI, Henry Park, Raffles Girls’ Primary, Nanyang Girls’ High etc and many students come in cars. This gets worse when it is raining.

In case you are wondering why I could share a wee bit more of the school, I graduated from NJC some years ago. I suppose you are in the IP (intergrated programme)? Well, NJC is a school that allows quite a well-rounded development. The teachers there are friendly and warm. Expect a different level of discipline from what you experienced in primary school because in primary school, you are still pretty much sheltered, teachers may be a little harsher or stricter just to make sure that their messages do get across to the young students. But when you reach secondary level, especially having your secondary education in a college, the teachers choose to guide rather than to dictate. That’s just my 2 cents’ worth of opinions.
