My 1st kid in pte school (during N1 & 2) learnt phonics, Number. 1 to 100 and addition for maths . Now might need to transfer him to MLS, together with my No.2 kid. I heard their Nursery only count 1 to 20 and K1& 2 no spelling. Kind of worry about their curriculums. Does anyone have the same concern and also do you know what enrichment does MLS offer? Am little Kiasu and would like my kids to learn more.

Also I noted that for Pte school, they use P/T teacher. Usually till 11.30am or so. And during June or Dec holiday these P/T teachers totally not teaching in school. Do you think is fair for the students in Full day CC and parents that are paying for it. The school fee $900/- (whether subsidies or not school still gets $900 right?)

Will let you know how he copes with P1 next year! :xedfingers:

        Hi MummyThreeStreams!

Don't worry! My son's childcare centre didn't have spelling or ting xie. He was able to cope with the spelling and ting xie in P1 this year. His childcare centre didn't even teach him any Maths, and he was able to cope with it, likewise. Hence, I don't think you need to be too worried about this.

        Hi qms!
Thanks! I oscillate beteen being super relaxed and being super worried. But judging from the experiences of parents like you, i think it should be ok lar... šŸ˜„

P1 curriculum has developed to such an extent that the child need not learn a lot in pre-school. Remember, not everyone has the privilege of attending all the pre-schools or enrichment programs. Hence, P1 must be manageable to this group of children, too.

                Hi parents

Like to check if any parent have notice that children in LSH@ Kent Vale not very happy?

Also the very high ratio of PRC children to local which is as high as 80 to 90%. just concern about the impact.

                Regards

it's only been 3 weeks into the year so some kids might still feel uncomfortable with the new teachers and friends. need to give them some time.

How did u notice it? I don't think it is as high as 80-90%. The ratio might be a little bit high probably because the ratio of Chinese citizen in NUS staff is relatively high compared to other companies. And most of them are highly educated and to my observation, their kids are bilingual. (Sorry I am very sure of your concern.) But I did notice there are some from other countries like Africa, European countries, US, Korea, Japan, etc. That is a quite good explosure to children i think.
