Preparing kids for P5 in 2011

Happy New Year to everyone !
How are the new P5s doing ?
Ds's FT gave them 1/2hr \"lecture\" on the 1st day. Talked about the things we mentioned here - there will be big jump in exam requirements esp Maths & English. I think it was better for him to hear from the FT than from me.
They started on Maths (whole numbers) and Science (Cycles, reproduction).
I think of CA1 next month and I  :!: -

Started teaching English and Math but not the rest...1/2 of son's class are buddies to P1s, so teachers can't do much teaching as they have to leave the class at 1130am.Happy New Year to everyone !

I am trying to get my P5 girl to start her 'engine'. I left her on her own last year to coach my P6 boy..
Ended up, now my girl very relax and when i ask her to do work she drag her feet and bargain with me. She used to be very on the ball.. now i have to nag and nag to get her to do her work..

I wanted to leave my son on his own this year while I focus on my younger child in P1...but it seems it's not possible. Teachers aren't teaching much yet bcos of the buddy thing and he's so relaxed everyday.I am trying to get my P5 girl to start her 'engine'. I left her on her own last year to coach my P6 boy..

Started him on Cloze passage to get his brain working. Next week, teachers will gear up and move fast. He will be struggling to breathe if he continues to be so free. -

Have to train the speed especially in Maths paper otherwise may run out of time with last few question unable to complete and also no time for checking.

OMG :!: my boy only told me to write the subjects on the front cover of his exercise books...so very very free that I'm worried. Next month 28th Feb is his CA1. Teachers will go full-steam next Monday and he won't be able to breathe from 0 gear. Oh yes, he will be getting his jab next Tue. -

Mine was the opposite, wanted to forcus more on my DS1 since he is in P5 this year and let my DS2 enjoy his P1. Don't seem possible too as the school already told us that they will have progressively small tests and spellings which will make up for their P1 CA1 marks.

So that means cannot leave her completely alone. Spelling every Friday too. So that means full gear for BOTH of them with effect from next Monday. The P5 kid is important, very important year.
