Pei Hwa canteen food prices have been high since P1. A friend of mine told me this since her son was in P1 and that was like 5 years ago. She advised me to give my son more pocket money, esp on days when he had to stay back.
I just wonder if canteen operators in primary schools can standardize the prices. Don’t tell me premium schools or schools operating in Bukit Timah charge more. -
Funx3, hiyah, this proves that it's not that I'm very old, but prices at PH inflates faster than other neighbourhood schools!! hahahah
I know St Mag's is selling food at similar prices.. but to b double of neighborhood schools?? it does seem too much.. What I know is that the school usually awards the canteen to 1 operator, who will in turn rent out the stalls and manage the stalls.. Dunno if there are any rules or guidelines abt the prices..
the mummies @ swim class even asked me what ingredients does PH's canteen add to the noodles to cost $1.20... :lol: no wonder most of you pack snacks..
I doubled the portion of snacks for my DS yesterday.. to compensate for 'inflated canteen prices' :lol: -

Hey parents,
Have your children been asked to buy the 'onsponge Maths' assessment book ? I called Popular and was advised to buy directly from school instead. Neighbour told me her son used 'Problem-solving processes' by Fabian Ng last year.
This is not in my Gal's P6 BookList, but the \"Problem Solving Process\" is.
In P5 Last year, she also using \"Problem Solving Process\" - used by her Maths Teacher Very Often, and Assignments R from the Book, as well.
Very \"Challenging\" Book.
This Mummy has learnt quite a number of Maths Problem Solving
Skill as well from this Book - Never Too OLD to Teach New Tricks to Old Folks Like US, Right?

Today dw officially banned ds from buying any more frizzy drinks. So ds mood not very good. I just couldn't bare to be the bad guy.

Son tells me the hor fun in his school is nice but expensive. I went to check it out...no ingredients, save for few pieces of vege. He likes the omelette rice. -

Oh..they sell pizzas, harsh browns, jellies etc. I let my dd eat anything she likes from the canteen, it's her only break in school but nearer the exam periods, junk food is a no-no.
Huh? :shock: I'm surprised that they sell pratas in school, when HPB is promoting Healthy Lifestyle and Diet to all Pri Sch kids! Many schools have since changed their stalls / menus to sell healthy food since like 1 or 2 years ago.
I felt the most important factor should be the canteen operators observing their personal hygiene while preparing food. Don't want any of our kids to end up with stomach upset or even worse. There had been cases in the past from other schools. I guess most schools will not really change their vendors as long as no health issues arise from the food they provide. Ultimately, eating habits start from home. -

Oh ya, my DD has been eating fishballs and hashbrowns for the past few days. Told her to eat more \"proper\" food, but she still prefers the unhealthy ones.

Yes, totally agree with you, E3! Most importantly, food operators must observe proper hygiene and the last thing we want is them having upset tummies! Affects their studies if they fall sick!
