in the orientation booklet, under Appendix C, we need to submit the whole list of books/files to the form teacher. anyon can advise if the books can be handed over to the teacher by us or need to be by the kids themselves? cannot imagine the small little frame carrying so many books/files, doubt the sch bag can fit all, hv not tried though.

I managed to fit in all the books but the bag is very heavy. I imagine it will be heavier with the water bottle etc. Maybe we can help the child carry the bag to class bec i dont think my DS will be able to stand very long with the heavy bag on his shoulders.

Looks like he has to hold on to the files in his hand.

I guess this load is for first day only. I remember for DD’s batch, they were alloted lockers about a month later. but its was shared by 2 and cant put in all the books as they wont have time for all to operate the lockers frequently.

DS just recovered from a stomach flu and has lost weight - he was almost being dragged by the bag , sigh!

May I ask if any of the P1 kids took up CCA? Been receiving letter on CCA registration, not sure if any of you parents are sending your kids for CCA from P1?

Hello, my girl is currently in 1C. We've registered her CCA online last week. The CCA confirmation results for P1 are already out on the HPPS website.

CCA from P1 is not a must but it provides a good headstart if you want to start your child early.

There is an enquiry contact on the same HPPS page so you may wish to email the person in charge (Ms. Syiqin) for more information on the CCA.

I think the registration is closed , but you could still ask and see if they permit.

Just be prepared that CCA time will be from 10-12 once a week. If he is taking school bus, remember school bus does not cater to CCA timing. also the child has eat by himself at the canteen before proceeding for class at 1pm. Parents/ maids are not allowed to accompany them. Unless of course you are lving nearby going back home and returning before 1pm will not be feasible.

My DS has joined the art club since he was keen on it. I want to see if this works out…

Hi Genice, based on the charts, balloting was required for those living within 1 km of the school in the 2009 exercise. In 2010, balloting was required for those living within 1 to 2 km. So if you are staying within 1 to 2 km, it's a bit risky. You might either not get to ballot (i.e. those within 1 to 2 km no chance at all), or you might have to ballot. Hence, best to try to do PV, or consider other schools that are also near your place?

My son is in 1J. Anyone else from that class?

We didn't sign him up for any CCA either, but we did join one under the HPPA.

I can't count on my son to feed himself lunch at P1, or to spend a whole day at school from 10am-7pm. Quite tiring for a seven year old (made worse by my born-in-dec son!).

Heard from some neighbours that when they shift to RJC premises at Ghim Moh, the school will only have a single session for all levels.
ie P1-P6 will all be in the morning session, but school only starts at 8.30am.

Dunno how true it is since i heard it from the void deck grapevine!
