Original Title: Anyone using IP Cameras?

Does anyone use IP cameras here? Got introduced by an excolleague to get one from this company called Dlink so that i can see my dearest baby Ethan even at work, or even through my mobile phone.

I'm thinking of getting one from the IT Show this weekend.
Is anyone using it? Any feedback or are there anything i should take note before i buy one?

Just got back to work but my whole mind is filled with Ethan now... OMG why do i have to come back to work..? I hope this feeling is not abnormal..

I have the DLink for like 8 years now. My first Dlink either died from too much pan and zoom, or was a victim of \"maid manipulation\". It works fine, but requires the Internet Explorer browser. If you want to use it with mobile smartphones, you will need to purchase additional software, assuming that it is even available.

I personally think the newer Panasonic series are a better purchase.

They come in 2 variants -> fixed wired only or wireless. The wireless variant is slightly more expensive, but good since you only need to worry about setting up a power point. The panasonics are better in terms of software and browser support (can view video in smart phones such as the iphone), and are cheaper too. Check out selection and pricing here:

And yes, get the pan, tilt and zoomable ones.

hahaa… cos my mum’s taking care of him, so i’m not so worried about the "maid manipulation" part.

ok, i’ll remember to get a pan-tilt-zoom zoom one! thanks ChiefKiasu!!

Good luck. That should be for just the normal one, though, and not the 6220 which has an incredible 10x optical zoom.

Congrats! That's a pretty good price. The initial setup can be quite tricky if you have a home network that is not using the default 192.168.x.x private IP subnet. Set it up using wire first, before attempting wireless setup. Also, do the software setup beside the computer first before installing it up high on the wall.
