Sec 2 parents - are your boys forced to sign up for the Intermediate Life Science course?

According to the newsletter "…the Science Department is collaborating with Genecet Biotechnologies Pte Ltd to organize the Advanced Life Science Course, as part of the Life Science Enrichment Programme* for the Secondary 2 pupils who are interested in learning more about the life sciences.

The words in bold tells you it is only for those interested. Ds didnt sign up for it, but he is made to stay back for the course today.

I was wondering abt tat too. Sounds optional. DS also not keen saying last year's was so boring. Though this yr note says it'll be a fun, interesting course. Can they earn CCA points by attending? This could be earned under Enrichment?

Is your boy forced to stay back today as well? Yes, ds said last year's course was boring, so he didnt sign up this year. But he called just now to say he is forced to stay for the course. No CCA pts for this.

And there is a fee of $56 coz this is in collaboration with an external company. I dont see why the boys are forced to do an enrichment prog if they are not interested.

Have called the school, and am waiting for the person in charge to return my call.

DS never called for me to pick him so I guess he's attending the class. I don't mind him attending it as long as it's interesing. Only then it'll be enriching.

My son also joined them this year and I have little information about the school. However, according to survey, they are in top 30 good school list in terms of academic and a band 3 school. So I would assume it's a good school. Of course, cannot compare with ACS, RI etc...

My Nephew who is in Sec 3 of Maris Stella High says that MSHS is a very good school. I recommend that people whose Son are more interested in computer than to studying should post their son there. My nephew really started doing his work because of the MacBook!

Hello, just wondering if any parent out here is doing volunteer work on a weekly basis in school? What duties do you do? My son is now studying there in sec 1. Thank you!

They have 1 top scorer for 2010 'O' level result. From the statistics published at the school website, it looks like the school is doing very well.
