Hi Periwinklejoy - my son in Loyalty 8 received his Eng spelling today, to be tested on Fri; his Chinese mo-xie sentences and spelling words are those highlighted on the textbook - there is no separate list; to be tested next Tue. But my son said different classes could have spelling on different days, so maybe your gal's class will be having it much later?

Our kids start supplementary lessons next week. Son told me memo will be given tomorrow.
Time will be tighter then...got to finish homework, nap and some revision.
She came back with the supp lesson memo today. Chinese on Tue and Math on Thur odd weeks. Science on Tue and Eng on Thur even weeks. 2pm to 3.30pm. Commencing next week.
So my dd wld only be reaching home at 2pm on Mon, Wed and Fri. Umm, hv a little more time on hand to do my own stuff. -

) and I am usually not someone who gripes abt money.. .. but I was shocked cos my frens' children are also in 'elite' schools.. n they don have to pay at all for ccas.. their canteens charge only half PH's prices etc.. so it's quite a culture shock for me.. oh well.. :roll:

ya!! i also ask my son why he wrote down spelling when there isn't.. he mentioned that on Monday they did have 'spelling', but the teacher didn't mark it, but instead asked them to check if the answers r correct/ the same as hers... it was only in HYPY, n he showed me the chinese exercise book on Monday.. :? It's super confusing to receive information thru my 6 yr old boy... :roll: did u ask ur son if it was spelling on Monday?mrsbongz, I think both of us were mistaken. Today ds took back the spelling test which turned out to be a hypy test instead. I think the pg 5-8 refers to the chinese activity book rather than the textbook.
Last sun I actually revised the spelling with ds based on the textbook, all the while wondering how can PH expect P1 kids to write ζ±ε so early in their education? So I scare myself for nothing

He's asleep oredi. But I don't think I'll be able to elicit any useful information from him even if he's awake. The HYPY test that he did was dated tues - he brought it back cos parents must countersign - so according to your ds there should be another HYPY test on mon which was not returned.

Last time when I was studying my mum always tell me to make sure I don't return with an egg. In the same light, as long as ds thinks that he knows what is going on, I think I'll just accept the situation as it is. -

I was given 50 cents in primary school then...now a plate of nasi lemak costs $1. My daughter in P1 is enjoying buying her own food and tells me there is no need to prepare any snacks for her. I'm ok with that, but she has to drink plain water...and no soft drinks.
PS: I think I'm also giving away my age but can't hide...hitting 40 soon. -

How come's everybody's food so expensive? I am not as old as 45, but yet for 50 cents noodles, I recall it was during those days when I was teaching in a Primary school... and the canteen people would give me lots of noodles for 50 cents because they said \"teacher teacher\"...[/quote]oh....good....another ex-teacher here.....so we know who to approach for help when E3 is busy.....

hey parents, how much do you pay for the ccas? DS brought home a slip for table tennis, stating that its $220 for 20 lessons.. is this for competitive table tennis? or for all p1s who sign up for table tennis.. quite confused... thought it was very expensive for a cca..
After much deliberation, I also registered ds for table tennis. My deliberation & the irony of it is because while I wished that ds can have a sense of achievement learning a new skills well, I secretly hoped that he don't do so well that he ended up representing the sch. Practising 3 times a week is too much for me. :nailbite:
It would have been safer if he chose something like athletics instead. But DS said either table tennis or nothing for CCA. -

If your ds shows flair in table tennis, he gets more playtime during training. If not, be prepared that he has to εε·ζΏε³, only \"eye\" exercises (perhaps \"mouth\" exercises as well - can talk to those in the same fate) while the rest of them played. Most of them will be sidelined. This is a common scenario cos many P1 boys will select Table-tennis as CCA since choices are limited, thus the resources might not be adequate as well.Mrsbongz:
