Guess students in 'elite' schools are expected to know, so teachers tend not to spoon-feed them. One of the top schools I know have teachers entering classes and telling the students that she won't be covering a certain chapter since the entire class already knows. This is purely her assumption that these kids have tuition which covers topics way in advance.

Well, that's the price to pay for being in good or top schools... 😉

      Just my two cents worth....

        Hi P2 parents

Can I check if your child's chinese teacher go through the moxie sentence with them? ie explain what is the sentence abt?

        Thanks

I asked my dd whether her P2 CL teacher went thru. She said, \"Nope.\" I asked her again whether her P3 CL teacher went thru. She said, \"Nope.\" 😐

what the CL teacher teached is totally difference with those in my childhood. my one relative who was a famous primary teacher of china, as a CL tutor in singapore many years, but she is always to say in one words like, \"what pity these children are\". means CL teaching lacks systematicness, makes these children don't know how to learn...

obviously, if these kids have tuition which covers topics in advance, these students will become 'elite'.

If that's the case, they should give out the moxie as reference rather than ask them to memorize and write out without really knowing application and meaning right?

About P2 Science Expression, how do they select the kids for the programme?

                Thanks…

                  Hi Parents,

Regarding P5 supplementary lessons, I understand top 3 classes don't have to attend. But for P6 students, they are required to attend 4x a week....so that means they leave home in the morn until about 530pm.

You will receive a \"love letter\" from Science HOD. 😉 All P2 kids will receive this letter. Last year, the letter was given before the CCA memos. I am surprised that you've not received it yet. Maybe they had decided to \"change\" this year? It is optional but most kids in each class will participate. It is conducted by external Speech and Drama instructors from \"Acropolis English Centre\".

                      http://www.acropolis.com.sg/

At term 3, all the classes will put up their own classes' productions for parents to watch. If I am not wrong, there was one similar one conducted for the P4s as well.

My DH was telling me that he heard from Science HOD that this year there will not be any Science Expression. I think they are renaming it to Speech and Drama but not sure if Science HOD will still be in charge... not sure if I heard DH correctly.... haha.... 😉 😉
