Erm do u stay with ur mum? It would be ur address that would be taken into consideration, not ur mum's if u are not staying together..hi everyone!
in a sticky situation here..
my mom lives within the 2km radius of acs pri and SJi jr. where would i get a better chance of putting my son in 2013?
my girl, would most likely to be registered in Marymount Convent this year.
the balloting history put up has been most useful in helping me to narrow down the limited choices i have. how would i be able to check when the date is for phase 2c and the number of places available?
pls advise!
thanks
And which phase do u qualify in? MOE will usually announce the number of places and dates for registrations in June on their websites every year. Registration from phase 2 onwards usually start in July. -
You may want to visit the MOE website for P1 registration exercise for 2010 to have a rough idea on the dates of different phases? As Luanee has mentioned the website will be updated sometime in June every year.
http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/
Also, you may want to take a look at the \"statutory declaration\" section in this website. If your son is (1) in your mom's care all the while and (2) your mom is not working and (3) both you and your husband are working full time, then you may be able to register your son under your mom's address?
Lastly, IMHO ACS primary (Barker) is much much more popular than SJIJ.
Hope it helps! -

And harder to get into! You'd need to be within 1km of ACPS to stand a chance. -
All the dear Gurus,
If you are 2B and < 1 km, from AC Primary, and within 1-2km of AC Junior, would you go for AC Primary ?? Many thanks -
Eagle-Ladybird:
I'd monitor both schools and register at the one that has the surer chance of getting in. Depending on the year, you might stand a better chance at ACJS despite living further. All the dear Gurus,

From past historical trend, both seem good chance. All the dear Gurus,

ACS(Jr) balloted for those staying out of 2km for the past 5 years, so if u stay 1-2 km u should be quite safe.
ACS(Pr) either only accepted those staying within 1km, or 2km for the past 5 years, so if u stay within 1km, u should be quite safe too.
As per standard protocol, u got to monitor the situation at the year of ur registration

Thanks citygirl/luanee.
I’m of the same view. Our preference is AC Primary, and plan B would be AC Junior. -

Next year will be the P1 registration, so u're confirmed on ACJS? I'm still in a dilemma whether to go for ACPS or ACJS. Same situation as Eagle-Ladybird, may relocate to somewhere within <1km of both school.
Tends to get nervous whenever i returns to check on forum updates, this P1 registration thingy is really giving me nightmares.......
May God bless everyone here! -
If I am not wrong… ACPS had a much larger intake and campus than ACJS abt 20-30 years ago … hence they have a huge number of alumni compared to ACJS.
Now that ACJS also has a large campus and taking abt the same numbers as ACPS, hence the chance of a non-affiliated boy getting in phase 2B&C is higher. Also I think that ACPS offers GEP, whereas ACJS is staring/started their own inhouse gifted programme… so parents may consider that too when choosing between the 2. -
