Yes the P1s had watched a video done by the teachers and students and were briefed on how to take care of the P1s.Quite amazed that people will quarrel during orientation ...
SPS is a multi-national school - SGP, Malaysia, PRC, Phillipines, Myanmar, etc
The new P1s will have P2 buddy during recess time (probably for a week).
My daughter (2G) has already been briefed & has a checklist of to-do for the P1 buddies .. -
School reopen today !!

Hello! My youngest daughter is at Sembawang Pri. She's in P3 this year. I moved her from Woodgrove primary where she spent her P1. I must say, the move was the best thing I made. She was struggling at Woodgrove and was under so much stress. When we moved from Woodlands to Sembawang, I moved her and she is doing much better at this school and she is such a happier child than before.
Her final year results last year were markedly improved. So as you can tell, I am a big fan of this school
I don't know much about the new principal though. Welcome any thoughts or insights! -
Have there been any updates on the school move that was mentioned a few months ago? Is it still going to happen in January 2012?

my kid is in P3 this year too.
The kids enjoyed the school alot. I even 'joked' with my child ask if want to transfer school, he refused because he says he likes the school and his friends.
Regarding the shifting, I believe the school is still working out the shifting dates, but if not wrong, jan 2012, all the kids will attend school there already. -
I really like the school's attempt at Grandparent's Tea Party. My parents will be making a trip to the school on Feb 2 for that party and concert. And my daughter is all set with her new cheongsam. I might actually drop by as well to kaypo around
Anyone else got plans for this? -
HiHi
Me back to contribute… Now we are finally settling into the routine of Pri school. My girl is in 1D, anyone else?? We like her form teacher, speaks calmly and is always full of praises for children. Teachers makes a difference! She is even enjoying her Chinese class which is amazing to me. They had separate the class into 2 groups, those weaker ones had english translation to assist them to learn, they sing songs to learn hanyu pinyin etc which i thot was great.
Only thing is that they started spelling and tingxie 3 weeks into school and send us newbie P1 parents into a frenzy.
So far, she had enjoyed school and is happy. I like it that the school has various programs for parents including the upcoming talks on 26th Feb on how to teach your child, the previous grandparents’ day. We seen the new principal on few occasions, he is always smiley. My girl says he is like a kind ah-gong (grandfather)
I am glad that it all turned out well esp when SPS was not our choice originally. Beginning to think that perhaps really, God had other plans for me when we couldnt get into Greenwood. -

I didnt know anything about they were seperated into 2 groups during chinese class
and yes my boy enjoys school too. I was quite surprised in the 1st week of school, he already make his way to library.
I didnt think the school was as bad as some has said it to be. Quite ok. I was kinda surprised too that they started on the hanyu pinyin/ english spelling that fast. It was not a problem for my boy as he was previously in a childcare and they have had chinese/ english spelling every weekly back then.
I went for the workshop too on 26 Feb and thot it was quite helpful... -
Are there any good student care centres in sembawang to recommend?

Hi deese_verte
My girl got transfer back to her own class for Chinese which was a plesant surprise for us. The standard is higher and she has to put in more effort. Her name is Victoria. Yours?
The recent MPS was also a good time for us to get to better understand my girl's character and how to deal with it. Again, I must thank the form teacher for it. Pity she is going away for 3 months, I hope the absence will not affect the kids much.
SPS's \"report book\" rather stylo yeah? I kept comparing with my report book from Primary School and the whole family laughed non stop. I like the fact they have individual write ups on the child's ability and what is lacked of. Even on the part of values education.
Honestly, each time, I thank God for his ways in making us choose SPS though I am not by chance any religious person.
