Yes, my son said only TW9 class got to get the mealworms. He does not want to get the caterpillars saying he does not want the trouble to take care of it. He brought along a container today saying they are going to catch tadpoles in school, observe them, then release back.dyh:
Did she have to buy it from the teacher? My son said they need to buy caterpillar from their teacher if want it.
The mealworms are free. Her science tr gave them away. She just brought a container and her classmates gave her some oats and her teacher gave her 2 mealworms. The caterpillar needs to be purchased. -

We got them during one of our visits to the Jurong Frog Farm. A bullfrog tadpole is about the size of an adult's thumb (fat one). It costs $2 each, IIRC. We got two. They are very easy to rear. We just have to give them fish pellets and put them in a small fish tank with cover. When their hindlegs are fully formed, which also means the lungs are formed, you have to put in some pebbles for them to bask on so that they can take in the surrounding air.E3:
We ever reared bullfrog tadpoles that turned into frogs too. The girls get excited seeing the formation of the forelegs and then the hindlegs. Now, we have progressed to having THREE guinea pigs.
Hey that's interesting, E3. I may want to try rearing tadpoles just to watch the transformation. May I ask what you did to those bullfrogs once they were fully formed? We can't possibly keep them at home... You released them at the park?
The bullfrog is called \"ηθ\" and yes, they are commonly known as \"η°ιΈ‘\" when cooked.
Mine didn't survive our house-moving. I am not too sure whether you can simply release them at the park, they are, afterall, not butterflies, which you can just let them fly away.

Hahahah!!  How true!![/quote]I do see the strings of toad eggs along the drains at Clementi Woods Park. The ones you get from the parks are toads and their tadpoles are very small. You can only see more of these during rainy seasons. If it's meant to be educational, the bullfrog tadpoles should be more interesting for observing the process of metamorphosis.
