I don't recall reading about any changes to the P1 registration process... any reason why the sudden question? Think it should still be the same, alot depends on cohort. Just like last year there was alot of sign ups for Phase 1.

Just sms-ed friend staying in next block last night...she told me her son has slim chance of getting into Pei Hwa this year...told me priority given to those staying more than 2km for Phase 2B. That's why I thought got some changes again. Last year was simply unexpected. -

$200 in Edusave Account is correct. Your dd will not have any amount left from previous years because she just entered P1.
I called the number which E3 gave to check edusave account.
Thought the amount left over from Baby Bonus will be transferred to Edusave...strangely my daughter only has $200 in the account from MOE.
The Baby Bonus can be used to pay fees for all your children who are attending Approved Institutions registered with MCYS under the Baby Bonus Scheme mainly child care centres and kindergartens. I use it to pay for their medical expenses too. My eldest dd was not entitled to baby bonus then, so she used my dd2's baby bonus for kindy's fees and enrichment classes conducted by her kindy. My dd2 can use my dd3's Baby bonus in the same way. The unused balance will not be transferred to Edusave, instead it will be transferred to their Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA) when the child turns 7 years of age. It can be used to pay fees for post-secondary education in Singapore for the child and siblings.
This one I know cos I have three kids...

How can this happen when your dd is only P2? Or did it happen end of last year? The schools will usually be quite careful in leveraging the use of the Edusave Funds, ensuring that the kids will have sufficient funds in their accounts most of the time.
I am also just as blur .. or should I says still BLURR
The only thing I know was when I want to tap the fund .. they says not enough ... :stupid: -

The school sets the criteria for PVs...so there is a possibility that the school selects those staying more than 2km as PVs....But you must remember that P2B also apply to those coming from the churches and the grassroot volunteers...If the PVs are staying more than 2km, then they are definitely in a disadvantage position assuming majority of the other volunteers come within 2km....The rule still stays, based on the distance...For those who are selected as PVs and who are staying more than 2km away, move nearer to the school before P1 registration... and if you want to further increase your chance, move within 1km.. it will be a safer bet.....Mrsbongz:

Last year PH's episode is likely to be repeated this year and there are some PVs doing 100 hrs this round.... -

Here we go again. Last yr there was some unhappiness over this P2B~2km issue. If your neighbour is correct which I doubt very much, this would really go against the grain of conventional wisdom by a) penalizing applicants staying near the sch b) going against MOE's policy of encourage kids to study at their nearest sch.

This yr's registration exercise should be more challenging than less yr's due to a) increased condo devt in the area b) possibility that future P1 classes will be further reduced.
