MUMMYOF3:
Hi good morning mummyof3,Hi all,
I'm using Severin breadmaker but i find that the bread is too wet and the crust is too hard. Anyone can share with me why is this so ?
Also, what's the bread improver for ?
I'm a new trainee baker and am using Severin too. so far I have baked(only) 3 loafs from this 'not so cute but have bigger viewing window' breadmaker..results were acceptable. I followed strictly on the recipes stated.
The crust is too hard : did you leave it inside the baking tin for too long...my 1st loaf's crust was too brown and abit hard too. I learned this from shi fu ksi.
As for too wet..hmm...too much water/milk? baking time too short? :?
calling all experts/shi fu :?: why bread too wet? -
:offtopic: here again. Happy Mama, jtoh has already chalked up 1000th posts. Yours is coming soon, you had better go and start an introductory thread in Newbies, otherwise when the time comes, we won't know where to post our congratulatory message.

mummyof3,
No expert here, but could your bread be wet because of 1) too much water; 2) too short a baking time; or 3) not enough proofing time? -

Pardon for the bad shadowing.
how to achieve the pattern on the breadtop? sliced using knife? -
Dough too wetโฆ
1. too much water, too little flour
2. not kneaded enough
3. use wrong flour, not enough gluten
4. under bake
During the 1st phase, did your dough come together as a ball. If it isn;t, chances are there is too much fluid. If it form a ball but too sticky to handle, then it is not kneaded enough, -
Hi Twinklejoy,
No i usually remove the bread immediately and let it cool. But my boys have been complaining that the crust is too hard. Which mode do you use ? I usually use the basic "1" or "3" to bake. Note sure if iโm using the right one.
Hi b2b3m4
Will try and add less water and see how it goes but how do i know that itโs not kneaded enough ? Thought since am using a breadmaker, isnโt it supposed to be auto ?
Thanks all for yr advice. -
Just popped my ingredients into the machine. Going to try a cheese loaf again.
