Just engaged spring cleaning svc from domestic one… the svc sucks… just to share some experience w all the parents out there…

I dun mind to pay slightly higher price of $228 for 2 maids for 4 hrs for good service… the cleaning was not thourough and you have to tell them that the service actually include cleaning ceiling lights and etc otherwise they will skip it… even if they do they do it very fast and they either forgot or were lazy to cover all areas esp when wiping stuff… They told me they had finished in just 2 hrs and waited for me to check… I check n did ask them to clean up some places where they partially or totally skip… din manage to really go thru everything and spot all area though until they left…

      Very disappointed.

Just to share with parents how I managed without a FT maid when my kids were in kindy.

My elder DD was 5 and younger one was 2. They were sent to the childcare centre and came home at around 5pm. Both myself and hubby were working.
I actually placed an ad in all the chinese newspapers (SPH had a bundle then) to look for part time cleaners who could also cook.
Not many people responded, but I found 2 aunties there.
They came in to clean and cook for me for approx 3-4 hours each day, Mondays to Fridays. We agreed on a sum of money. Things went on quite well until the 2nd aunty fell ill, and we decided to get a FT maid after that.

Hope this helps some of you struggling with cleaning and food arrangements.

I think the going rate is around S$50 to S$60 for 4 hours (some 5 hours depending). This was what I paid for my PT maids many years ago. It could have increased since I last hired PT maid around 10 years ago. 😉

Thanks but is this rate applicable to the rate for everyday visit for Mon-Fri ? If yes, wow..that means it would cost more than $1000 per month for a part time maid.

No, I used to engage her services on a weekly basis. If it's daily PT basis, maybe you can approach some Aunties who clean offices. They usually clean in the mornings and by afternoons they should be free to drop by your place. Shouldn't cost more than S$400 I think...

Sorry have not been checking the website for a while.
This was more than 8 years ago. I would work out the cost to hire based on $10 per hour and then work out a discount for daily rate. So for 4 hours a day Mon to Fri, at $10 per hour would work out to $200 a week. So I would prob offer around $150-200 per week.

If you know of anyone staying around Yishun who is a domestic helper (not foreigners) and is willing to come in 2-3 times a week doing household chores plus cook dinner at a monthly rate (not those $10/hr type), pls pm me with her experiences etc.

                      Thank you.

Browsed through some ad just now and was surprised that many maids were self-advertising themselves for transfer! I doubt their employers know about this. :!:
