lead.com? I just went there to take a look… abit weird leh… it’s an ang moh website… Pls enlighten me, thanks.
My girl has 2 periods of Music yesterday but she said they didn’t do anything musical but instead she was given a homework to draw a picture relating to Singapore. Why huh?
What is the difference between SS and CME? There’s a text for CME but not SS right? -
Also, may I know how does Pei Chun decide P2 classes? Will there be a banding exercise to determine the better students go into the same class etc?

No. The banding exercise will be at P3 and P5. -
Swee Keng,
I saw the homework that came in over the weekend. Maths, Chinese and English. Lots work going on every week – activity books, spelling, Stellar worksheet, haopengyou newsletter exercises and the new Grammar textbook. My son is not complaining but I do find the workload excessive for week 3, sigh. Yup, know SG is like this but quite sad (though cannot convey this feeling to kid of coz). -
Btw, what is subject banding? School said this takes place only at P5. So wat is the diffence with P3 banding?
-
The principle said during the briefing that P1 and P2 will be in the same class.
P3, he will reshuffle it. But how he going to band it, he didn’t said. I guess it should be based on their grades.
For P5 banding, the grading system can be found in the pupil diary.
Band 1 - 85 -100
Band 2 -70 -84
Band 3 - 50 - 69
Band 4 - 0-49
For those who failed the subject, need to take up the foundation subject. -

For P5, it is known as subject-based banding. It is done in all sch in SG. Pupils who are extremely weak are either recommended or have to do foundation in that subject eg, Maths. Pupils who are ok in that subject will do the standard. Being weak will mean getting 25 or lower grade in the combined grade for both SA1 and SA2.
I think Pei Chun will band their pupils according to grades and whether are they selected into the sports class or not. -
I am quite relief to know that for P1 & P2 they all will be in same class, not going to stream them as I feel it is rather early & stressful to do so in P1. Thanks for the replies!
