How long your child take for showering?

DS1, who is 6, can stay in there forever, with the water running! He will spend a long time getting his hair and body wet, then quickly soap, then spend a long time rinsing off. He just likes the feeling of the water. I have to remind him to stop. What a waste of water!

I am a child and I take around 10 to 15 minutes, probably because the water is soothing.
My sisters take five minutes. They keep delaying going to the shower. Sigh.
For kids taking short showers, try making them feel that showering is fun. Purchase some fun kid shampoo (strawberry-scented, make sure your child won’t eat it) and let them have fun showering.
For kids taking long showers, switch off the light. If he/she is not scared, leave him/her alone and then scream loudly. Very effective. -
For your last point - It will work on younger children but may not on older children (p5 and beyond) especially boys. If they know this is just you trying to make them stop showeringand not some monster /kidnapper, why will they ‘get scared’ and go out? Besides, if this method is repeated often, the child will, of course, know that nothing wrong is happening outside, it’s just the parent asking them to get out.

My P5 daughter takes about 1 hour to shower. :x That's not including the 1/2 hr she takes to get ready to step into the shower. :? Don't ask her why it takes so long ------ she just cannot give an answer. Recently, I've taken to switching the heater off after 30mins. So far, that has only given rise to a shrill shriek followed by business as usual.
Of course there are the usual accusations \"Mummy, if I freeze to death, get the chills, turn blue, catch a cold etc............. we know who's to be blamed.\" :roll:
Btw, I would never switch off the lights. The bathroom is too dangerous a place to walk in the dark. -
I have just \"promoted\" my son (6 years old) to take his own bath. For the first few days, he takes about 30 minutes. And now, after several weeks of \"practice\", he takes about 20 minutes. He is smelling ever so nice after his shower.
I still do weekly \"scrub\" for him to ensure he bathes properly. I will probably stop this \"check\" end of this year when he turns 7.

My son used to time himself to see how fast he can bathe as he felt bathing was a waste of time- his fastest was 3 mins and 11 seconds. I saved on PUB but he was not very clean. Now I tell him if I smell his hair and it has the oily scalp smell, he will have to wash all the dishes after dinner so he is cleaner now and he takes about 8-10 mins.

:rotflmao: :rotflmao: my DS may take 3 minutes to an hour, depending whether he brings his model planes in to bath room, sometime must simulate airplane flying through turbulence and storm ....
