Ok to carry kids' sch bags when picking them up from sch?

Now that I send my P4 boy to sch via public tpt daily, I will carry his bag in the morning as we need to cross 2 overhead bridges. When going home, he carries it unless it is really heavy. My boy weighs only 22 kg.
Once I fetched my elder boy home, I also carried his bag after he complained of shoulder ache (that day PE was vigorious push up, chin up etc). His weight just hits 41 kg.
I am definitely more chubby that both of them  -

Same here...mummy can do some exercise 'carrying weights' walking him to school. He's only 24kg and his bag is ridiculously heavy. My petite neighbour lets her son carry his own school bag as she can't carry it.Now that I send my P4 boy to sch via public tpt daily, I will carry his bag in the morning as we need to cross 2 overhead bridges. I don’t carry my kids’ bags - not even when they are in lower primary. I drive my kids to/from school so they only need to walk a limited distance. If their bags are heavy, then they’ll need to do something about it, eg. leave non-core subject books like art, music, drawing blocks, etc in school.
I am more concerned with my own back at this age. -
Grandma brings a cloth bag along when she brings Little Boy home by public transport. She then takes out a few books from his bag to lighten it. That way, his load is lighter but he is still carrying his own bag.

That's a good one. If we don't take care of ourselves, how can we can take of our children right? :celebrate: -

Your P4 boy only weighs 22kg? My P1 boy is already 25kg and growing. Now I know what you meant by describing your 2 boys as scrawny. Now that I send my P4 boy to sch via public tpt daily, I will carry his bag in the morning as we need to cross 2 overhead bridges. I am bugging my son to open up by asking his teacher for the locker key...books like Music, Social Studies, Health Education and exercise books should be left in school. If he can take out all these extras, it will be much much lighter.I don't carry my kids' bags - not even when they are in lower primary. Your P5 boy only 24kg? Yours and Jen's boys are really very light-weighted by my standard. If my ds is so thin, FIL will give me grief everytime I visit him.

Somehow I think your mum & I share the same child upbringing philosophy

My action differs from my answer
I do not carry for them if the kids walks for short distances. However, when I fetch them from school which takes more than 20-minutes walk, I tend to carry for them...
