Ya this thread is definitely very useful and helpful
Yes I have seen that thread but better ask the experts here wat they actually usingHappy Mama:
Oops! Sorry then I cannot help much, because I am a great fan of PH, because of it's convenience and parking..
First 10 mins free parking now, which is even better!
I thought 25hourmaid had compiled somewhere in this thread all the places selling baking stuff? I thought the information was very useful...
Maybe you can refer to it... Alternatively, you can buy stuff from supermarkets. I'm sure they have everything.
Oh yes, no la, I'm not pro. Still learning from all the shifus here.
We all learn from each other :celebrate:

Nope, no sour taste at all. Amount too little. Reason can be found from the website i quoted. It gives you the reasoning for many other ingredients too.
Huh? b2b3m4, this is very interesting. Will Vit C give a sourish taste? All the Vit C nutrients would have been gone once exposed to heat.. Any scientific reason behind this? :?
Thank you.
Vitamin C
Creates an acidic environment for the yeast which helps it work better. It also acts as a preservative & deters mold and bacterial growth. With just a touch of ascorbic acid, your Artisan breads, the yeast will work longer and faster. French bakers add it to their French bread, baguette or boule recipe.
If you can't find pure ascorbic acid crystals you can use Fruit Fresh (canning isle) or a crushed/powdered vitamin C tablet, but measure accordingly. -

Ok I shall attempt butter cake then! :celebrate: In the meantime, still waiting for my loaf to be ready.Happy Mama:

Wow thanks! Will add vit C when baking my Wholemeal bread. By the way, can you please tell me again, how much Vit C to put?

[/quote]The Z recipe says All Purpose Flour, but PH does not have it, so I will be using Cake Flour instead. Hope it will not affect the results. Another this is, recipe mentions 2 LARGE eggs, but my eggs are quite small. Not sure if I should use 3 SMALL eggs, or stick to 2 SMALL eggs. :?

Cranberry loaf will be ready in 1 hour's time. Smells good. I cannot wait for it to be ready. Yumm yumm! This time I can slice it professionally with my new knife (provided I've got the skills). The lady at Taka told me slicing bread needs θ½»ε·₯.
anxiously waiting for the 1st loaf of KSF cranberry bread!
I'm so envious of your kai knife wor...

Because I only went to PH this morning. Didn't make a trip to supermarket to get Prima.Happy Mama:

Why not take the Prima All purpose flour? Also I think 2 eggs should be enuf unless u want too yellow color
Though I am no expert
I will still try with cake flour, and will take your advice to use 2 eggs. Thanks LKVM!
