i3mum, generally your child’s teacher should be able to give you a hand. I, as a teacher, do that for my student’s if they require my help

        Hi jce,

Thanks, but I have yet to get a piano teacher. Does a piano tuner helps? Cos I know tuner knows how to see the interior of the piano.

Yes, piano tuners can help too. Actually they are even more knowledgable than most teachers, provided the tuners are of a good standard.

I went to a shop, the owner itself is a piano tuner. Don't know should bring piano teacher there to test the piano before buying!

Hmm I think we need to get another reliable piano tuner to tell us the condition of the piano?

Did anyone went to this website to search for piano?

By the way, can someone list down the location where we can find new & used piano? So far just went Robert Piano at Centrepoint, they mentioned that they are the Authroised for Kawai piano in Singapore.
You can try this thread. Lots of listing ...

i3mum, you can contact one of the piano tuners (I think his nick is snoopy, have not read the thread for some time) in the above thread too, i remember he offered to help out.

Are there any piano tuner offering service to select a piano? Does piano tuner have any certificate which we can evaluate?

Can anyone advise whether good to get those 2nd hand U3A, U300A etc etc which were imported from Japan?

There is a guild for piano technicians and also certificates for piano technology, which is where tuning is taught

                      Hi all,

Recently I just viewed a 2nd hand Yamaha U1 piano- Made in Japan. The serial no is 865877. Does anyone knows how old is the piano?

I tried this website, but unfortunately, I don't really understand.

If I'm not mistaken, looks like it was made in 1969 (see first column somewhere in the middle)
