Can share some tips on scheduling? I want to spend time with her on Eng, Compos (Chin and Eng), Science. But its week 4 already and nothing accomplished as I cldn't bear to get her to do any more work after she finished her hw.

For EL compositions, I used to let her do one every alternate days (on weekdays only) one month before SA1 and SA2. She reads a lot of upper primary model compositions and has taken a liking to certain styles.

There are some identical parts between yours and mine. My #1 is quite task oriented, but with her increased work load, we are re-adjusting her schedule. Getting her to work on tasks is easy, but to complete on time is harder. With so much stuff on hand, and piano exam coming, there is hardly any buffer to squeeze in. Poor girl. As for introducing twists and using creative phrases/idioms in her writing, she is alright, but she is quite careless in making grammatical and spelling errors. CL is an entire different story. She has alot to work on.

My 5 yo is quite self entertaining, she writes (copies from story books)m works on kumon activity books, draws, practises ballet/gym as well as plays toys, mostly independently. She also entertains baby alot.

Happy to know that you share some similar sentiments, IJJ. Yup, like your younger ones, my dd2 and dd3 are inseparable, now that they started attending Kindy together.

I cannot stand staying with children whole day, i eagerly go to work in order to run away from them. my sat & sunday are the most troublesome times.

(1) Focus on quality learning. It's getting them to complete the assigned tasks on time that is tricky. -> Will keep this valuable advice in mind. And encourage dd to complete assigned task, even if its 10%, I will commend her for her efforts and slowly I think she may be more efficient and self driven to complete more each time, hopefully 10% to 20% to 30%... 100%.

(2) For EL compositions, I used to let her do one every alternate days (on weekdays only) one month before SA1 and SA2. The other alternate days will be for CL compo. She reads a lot of upper primary model compositions and has taken a liking to certain styles. -> Very gd advice. But my dd's stamina is not that good. Last year, I tried to get her to write at least 1 compo (either CL or Eng) a week and if she did it, I was over the moon already!
But I will strive to do it interactively with her so that she can learn more interesting approaches to writing. So I will aim to entice her to write 1 CL and 1 EN compo each week if poss and place her compo on my noticeboard (currently my notice board is filled with her sis and her cards and loving notes to me)

I try to 'escape' from my kids at night...by taking a longer than usual time to hang the wet laundry on bamboo. Need a break from them bcos the noise can be rather stressful after school all the way till nights...yes, weekends are no better.
